About me and my therapy practice
Bath avaliability - Online/telephone only.
My approach to therapy is grounded in the relationship I have with my clients. My practice comes from a place of belief that you understand your life best, and it鈥檚 my job to give you space to explore what this means, and empower you to understand yourself, your needs, and work towards living your life in the way that suits you.
I aim to create a therapeutic holding space with empathy and non-judgement that gives you a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences, and how they influence and guide the way you live, and how you want to work with or change that to live a more fulfilling life. Occasionally this may mean challenging your thoughts and actions in a non-judgemental way, aimed at giving you a safe space to question and understand yourself.
With warmth, compassion, and professionalism, I offer a collaborative approach to therapy, tailored to your individual needs and goals. Whether you're seeking support through a specific issue, or seeking personal growth and self-discovery, I'm here to walk alongside you.
Practice description
My core training is as an integrative practitioner, meaning I have a background in multiple therapeutic modalities, including humanistic, CBT, existential, and psychodynamic. In practice, this means I tailor the therapeutic experience to you, drawing on multiple disciplines to work in a way that suits you and your needs.
I hold a Distinction in MA counselling and psychotherapy, and offer both short-term, goal-oriented counselling, and longer-term, open-ended therapy. We'll talk about which approach feels right for you in our first session and revisit this as needed moving forward.
I have worked a lot with young adults and people experiencing a 鈥渜uarter life crisis鈥, although I am fortunate to have worked with adults of all ages experiencing emotional distress related to a myriad of issues. These have included, but are not limited to, depression, anxiety, childhood emotional abuse, past domestic abuse, body image and low self-esteem, quarter-life and mid-life crisis, feelings of overwhelm, suicidal ideation, relationship issues, LGBTQIA+ focus, significant and unexpected circumstance and life changes, self-discovery and acceptance, grief, and more.
My first session
The idea of a first therapy session can feel daunting as you consider what to expect. To help with this, I do offer a 15-minute telephone consultation before you commit to anything. This gives you space to ask any questions you may have, and for us to get to know ach other a little.
During our first session I鈥檒l go over some important information about confidentiality. Then I鈥檒l ask some questions about what鈥檚 brought you to therapy, if you have any specific goals, and what you hope to get from our sessions. It鈥檚 okay if you find you鈥檙e unable to answer these questions.
It's normal to feel nervous or unsure in the beginning, but please know I'm here to support you and help you feel as comfortable as possible. By the end of our first session, we'll have a clearer sense of whether we鈥檙e a good match and if therapy with me feels like the right path for you. If you decide to move forward, we鈥檒l schedule our next session and start working on your goals together.
