I currently work within the office Tuesday to Thursday. For students requiring personal therapy as a requirement of their study I offer this remotely only but have more flexibility.
About me and my therapy practice
When working with individuals, I aim to work in a way that best meets your needs. I believe that there is no one size that fits all. You are the expert in your own life. If you feel that something is not working for you then we can try something else.
I believe that my role as a counsellor is to work together with individuals to help guide and facilitate them to move forward and work towards solutions. This is done in a non-judgemental, safe and confidential setting.
Practice description
I currently work with clients from primary school age up to older adults. I do not follow any one approach to counselling, I instead listen to my client and what they need from sessions. Which is why I strive for an open and honest relationship between the individual and myself. I want my clients to feel listened to. There should be a mutual collaboration between the two. Counselling is a place where I feel an individual is able to process thought, feelings and emotions and come to their own decisions. I am not there to tell you what you should do but instead offer guidance.
I do not have any 'speciality' but my experience comes predominantly from individuals suffering from anxiety. I currently work in a school setting so have experience of working with children. I would also consider myself to be a LGBTQ+ affirmative counsellor which is something that I hope to expand my knowledge of.
I understand how difficult it can be to get through a counselling course. Which is why I offer a reduced rate to students who need to complete personal therapy as a requirement of their course.
My first session
Prior to beginning counselling sessions, I feel that it is important to see if I am the 'right' counsellor for you. I therefore offer a 30 minute initial session whereby we have an informal chat about why you have came to the decision that counselling may be beneficial. I am able to take a background and it gives you the chance to also ask any questions that you may have. If you decide that you would like to go ahead then we can arrange a time that is appropriate for us both. There is no obligation to go ahead. You are always in control of the situation.
