About me and my therapy practice

Life can bring significant challenges—whether it’s loss, stress from a high-pressure career, difficulty connecting with family, or struggling to express your emotions as a man. These experiences often leave people feeling unfulfilled, disconnected, or stuck in patterns that are hard to break.

I work with individuals in Shenfield and surrounding Essex areas who want to explore these challenges in a safe, confidential space. Drawing on Gestalt psychotherapy, my approach is collaborative and rooted in awareness of your present experience—emotional, physical, and relational.

With a 35-year leadership career in business and finance, I understand the unique pressures of balancing demanding work with personal life. I also have a deep appreciation for the challenges men face around vulnerability and emotional expression, having navigated similar struggles myself.

Whether you are grieving a significant loss, managing professional stress, or wanting to reconnect with yourself and your loved ones, I offer a compassionate, non-judgmental space where we can explore your experience at your own pace. Together, we will uncover new perspectives and choices that support a more authentic and fulfilling life.

Practice description

In our sessions, you can expect a warm, respectful environment where you can openly share your story. I work with men and professionals who may feel pressure to appear strong, yet struggle internally with emotions like grief, anxiety, or disconnection.

Counselling with me is tailored to your needs. You might want practical support for managing stress or relationship difficulties, or a deeper exploration of identity, grief, and emotional expression. I combine traditional talking therapy with experiential methods, such as body awareness and creative reflection, to help you connect more fully with your feelings and needs.

Many clients find counselling helps them develop greater emotional resilience, rebuild connection with family, and regain a sense of purpose. Whether you’re adjusting to life after loss, facing workplace pressures, or exploring what masculinity means to you, our work will focus on what’s most important to you right now.

My first session

Your first session is an opportunity to begin at a pace that feels comfortable. I’ll invite you to share what brought you to counselling and what you hope to gain. There’s no pressure to cover everything at once — this is your space to be heard and understood.

We’ll also discuss how I work and answer any questions you have about the therapy process. Whether you want to focus on grief, professional burnout, men’s emotional wellbeing, or relationship challenges, we will tailor the work to your goals.

I offer a free 20-minute introductory phone call to help you decide if I’m the right counsellor for you. Taking that first step can feel daunting, but I’m here to support you as you explore new ways to live more authentically and with greater ease.
