Availability

As well as my usual practice, from June to August this year, I’m offering short-term psychotherapy — an intentional, focused approach designed to fit within a contained time frame. This is an ideal opportunity to explore a specific issue, to gain clarity or build coping strategies, in a supportive space without the commitment of ongoing therapy. This structure encourages momentum and purpose, often leading to meaningful insights and change in a short period. Whether you're navigating a transition, feeling stuck on something or just curious about therapy, this could be a valuable way to invest in yourself.

Get in touch to arrange a free introductory conversation — a good starting point that will give you an idea of what working with me could feel like. We can also discuss your needs (number of sessions and fees).

About me and my therapy practice

I am a psychodynamic therapist, taking a traditional talk therapy approach. I believe that the past influences the present and that, to understand how your past experiences play out in the present, your unconscious processes are at the heart of the therapeutic process.

The therapeutic relationship is equally central to the success of any therapy, so I don't judge, give advice or tell you what to do. Instead, we talk about your life, what's happening now and what’s happened in the past, and work together to explore and process your feelings. When you find the therapy painful or hard, or if you feel annoyed – I encourage you to talk about so we can try to understand why you might be feeling like that.

We meet weekly, ideally in person, at the same day and time for 50 minute sessions. I listen, support, challenge and prompt to help you work through your feelings.

I have particular experience with:

  • Anxiety and feeling overwhelmed
  • Grief and loss
  • Gender and sexuality
  • Relationships inc relationship to self, food, non—monogamy and polyamory
  • Depression and depressive episodes
  • The decision to have – or not have – a family, including infertility, assisted fertility and adoption
  • Processing an autism / ADHD diagnosis

I welcome enquiries for these, or any other challenge that you might be facing.

Practice description

I provide a safe and confidential space to help you process and manage emotional, psychological or behavioural issues. Therapy is a neutral space to talk about things that might be difficult to discuss with partners, friends and family.

The process generally involves:

  • An initial assessment and information meeting
  • Establishing our therapeutic relationship and building trust
  • Facilitating your emotional expression by encouraging self–exploration and self—awareness
  • I provide interpretations, interventions, observations and insights that help you ‘join the dots’ of your life
  • Checking progress and managing an ending that consolidates any insights and gains

My first session

Our initial session is an opportunity for us to meet and see how working together might feel.

I start by outlining the terms of our therapeutic relationship so that our working agreement is clear for you.

I then gather information about what has prompted you to seek therapy at this moment; this includes details events and experiences, as well as the significant people in your life. We also discuss your expectations of therapy and of a therapist.

Most importantly, the first meeting allows us to get a sense of each other, establishing a foundation for our therapeutic relationship going forward.
