About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome,

My name is Dr. Zing Impey, and I am a chartered counselling psychologist registered with the Health Care and Professions Council (HCPC).

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page. Taking the first step in reaching out for help is never easy and can be fraught with anxiety. I am here to tell you that therapy can be life changing and maybe one of the best things you do for yourself.

I am first and foremost an integrative psychologist, which means I use an eclectic mix of therapies to help you. This primarily includes the utilisation of third wave cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). Third wave CBT is a recent form and development of traditional  CBT. It uses concepts such as acceptance, values based living, and compassion to help you find inner peace. It provides long lasting and practical solutions to many of life's challenges while also delving into deeper aspects of the psyche.

In addition, I am well versed in person centred therapy and believe in principles of providing unconditional positive regard to my clients. Meaning I am able to provide a warm and empathic attitude to anything that  might arrive in the therapy room. Person centred principles allow me to stay genuine, curious and help my client become the best version of themselves possible.

Lastly, I draw on some principles of psychodynamic therapy and pay attention to early life events that may have shaped who you have become in the here and now. Understanding how you came to be, is crucial in increasing self-awareness and knowing what actually drives your behaviour.

I have worked with people from all walks of life and find it a genuine honour to be apart of someone's healing journey. I believe in the power of therapy and understand how it can be of benefit, not only for the person in therapy, but for their loved ones too.
