About me and my therapy practice

Hi, welcome to Neoma Counselling. I chose to name my practice 'Neoma', meaning 'new moon', as I feel this depicts an ideal metaphor for the transformational experience counselling can offer. The personal growth, self acceptance, clarity, healing, and many other benefits that can arise through counselling, provides some clients with a sense of entering a new chapter, or new phase, and with that, renewed hope and potential.

As a person-centred counsellor, I recognise you as the expert of your own experiences, and prioritise holding a compassionate and non-judgemental space in which to explore what may be troubling you or holding you back. Together, we may identify parts of you that have become misaligned, or work through stuck thoughts or patterns that are perhaps limiting you from living your truest, most authentic life.

My therapeutic approach is integrative, utilising various tools and interventions from modalities including systemic practice, CBT, mindfulness and creative therapies, among others. I adapt and tailor my service to the needs and preferences of each individual client, helping to empower you to have autonomy over your own healing journey.

Areas I have previous counselling experience with include anxiety, depression, friendship/relationship issues, family issues, self-esteem, identity, LGBTQ issues, bereavement, parental separation/divorce, and significant life changes or transitions.

Practice description

I offer face-to-face counselling, walk-and-talk counselling, and online counselling via Zoom.

Sessions are 50 minutes and cost £50.

Face-to-face sessions take place at The Practice Rooms in Broomhill, close to Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

Walk-and-talk sessions are held on Wednesdays in woodland or waterside locations local to Sheffield, on mostly flat, public footpaths.

I offer long term and short term therapy, with sessions held weekly, fortnightly, or at whatever timeframe suits you best. Further details around your own availability and preferences can be discussed in our initial session.

My first session

In our initial session, which I offer as a complimentary 20 minute Zoom or telephone consultation, we can outline the key areas you would like support with and discuss how you would like your therapy to be structured.

I will use this time to explore with you what has brought you to seek support through counselling and what you hope to gain from your sessions. I also invite you to use this session to ask any questions you may have around my practice or how our work together might look.

Counselling is most effective when you experience a positive connection with your therapist. This is why I offer the initial session free of charge, so that you have an opportunity to get a feel for how I work, and whether you feel I am the right therapist for you, with no obligation.
