About me and my therapy practice
Perhaps you are struggling with grief and feel lost. Maybe anxiety is keeping you awake at night, or you feel depressed and very alone. I can support you with talking about your feelings of loss, anxiety, or individual relationship struggles, helping you to become stronger and calmer.
I work with a variety of issues with adults, with a focus on attachment and loss, anxiety and depression. I am a registered member of the Íø±¬ÃÅ and abide by the Ethical Framework to ensure good practice.
How Counselling can help
Exploring loss, anxiety or shame through the lens of attachment can bring you clarity. Sharing your feelings with a counsellor can help you make sense of your relationships, individual struggles and help you understand yourself and others in your life. This awareness of attachment patterns and defences can help you learn new ways to relate to others, where you will feel heard and valued for who you are.
Counselling can help you feel more positive about yourself, supporting you to build healthy boundaries in your relationships.
I understand that counselling can feel daunting, so I offer a free 20-minute video or telephone call to help you decide if I am the right therapist for you.
Practice description
If you would like a face-to-face session, we can meet at the beautiful Wellness rooms in Tur Langton, Leicestershire, which is a lovely, peaceful space. I rent a room on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Once we have agreed on a suitable time, I will book the room in advance of our session.
I also work online from my home in Rutland, so if you would prefer an online session, once we have agreed on a time, I will send out a link for my online platform, doxy.me.
What is Person-centred Therapy?
Person-centred therapy is a non-directive talking therapy, which places you at the heart of the session. I listen and will reflect on your thoughts so that you can hear and understand yourself more clearly. I believe you are the expert on yourself, so although I don't give advice, I will offer insights and collaborate with you, helping you to focus on your feelings and thoughts in the here and now. I will support you with understanding your attachment patterns, the way you communicate with others, and helping you to set healthy boundaries.
I work intuitively, offering you the opportunity to explore deeper feelings at your own pace with a focus on the connection between the mind and the body. Trauma, loss and anxiety can become stuck in the body. I will bring awareness to where this energy is in your body so we can unravel it, helping you gain more understanding about the root of any feelings of grief, anxiety or depression.
I use a variety of techniques, such as offering you the opportunity to focus on where energy and feelings are stored in the body. Breathing techniques to connect the mind and body, and journal prompts if this feels comfortable. I can help you learn tools to build your strength and resilience, helping you to overcome challenges.
I offer a space, either face-to-face or online, where you will feel seen and heard. Knowing you are not alone and acknowledged will give you the confidence to explore deeper wounds and begin the healing process.
My first session
If you wish to make an appointment after our introductory call I will send out the contract and policies and payment details which will explain everything you need to know about how I work.
We can discuss this further in the first session along with working through an assessment process together. I will ask you some questions about your family history, relationships, and your goals for counselling.
This is a collaborative process and one which we can work through together at your own pace.
Sessions can be long or short-term, weekly or fortnightly.
