About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Sadie, and I believe that taking care of mental health requires a holistic approach, meaning a total assessment of your overall health. I work as a psychotherapist, remedial massage therapist and Pilates instructor as I have a real passion in healing clients from the inside out. How we deal with stress and trauma can show up in many ways including body aches and pains, issues with appetite, problems sleeping and more typically in our behaviour patterns and emotional triggers.
Alongside my PGDip in Integrative Counselling and Coaching at the University of East London (UEL), I’ve also completed a Level 4 qualification in rape and sexual abuse with East Kent Rape Crisis Centre (EKRCC).
I specialise in working with trauma and abuse but there’s no reason too big or small to seek out therapy. I’ve worked with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, attachment issues and relationship problems. Sometimes you may find yourself struggling with a symptom before you’re able to name the cause, and that’s the point at which therapy enables safe exploration and support during the healing journey.
My therapeutic approach is client-led depending on your needs, and I draw from various types of therapy modalities such as psychodynamic, person-centred, Gestalt and existential psychotherapy to find a model that works for you. Our work together will be informed by your goals and what you want to get out of them.
Practice description
My intention is to provide a comfortable and safe space to talk openly and honestly. The development of our relationship will be the starting point to the therapy work.
I encourage exploration of behavioural patterns and reactions in our sessions, and aim to shine a light on how these might be negatively impacting your life. I work with the belief that my role is to facilitate the discovery of insights and learnings that can allow self-compassion and positive acceptance.
Choosing to start therapy is a brave step, and I can appreciate that finding the right therapist can be an intimidating process. I'm committed to putting your needs first and to work at whichever pace is required.
My first session
Ahead of booking any sessions, I suggest a 15 minute free and confidential exploratory call. This allows you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about therapy and my approach. It's also important to see if you feel comfortable talking with me as I believe a solid relationship is the foundation for any effective therapy work.
