About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Anna — thanks for stopping by.
Reaching out to a therapist can feel like a big and sometimes overwhelming step. It takes courage, especially when there are so many profiles to scroll through — where do you even begin?
Practice description
I believe therapy should be as unique as the person seeking it. While my work is rooted in Person-Centred values — meaning you're always at the heart of our work — I also know that healing isn’t a one-size-fits-all journey. We’re all shaped by different experiences, so it’s important to me that therapy is tailored to you.
Alongside talking therapy, I’m also a Somatic Trauma therapist. This means that, in addition to exploring thoughts and emotions, I pay close attention to the body — to the physical sensations and responses that often hold deep-rooted information about past experiences. Sometimes, our bodies carry messages that our minds haven’t yet put into words. Somatic trauma therapy helps you reconnect with your body and release stored trauma. We’ll use tools like breathwork, mindfulness, creative play and body awareness to support healing. It focuses on calming the nervous system and helping you feel more grounded and regulated. Together, we can begin to listen, gently and safely.
I have a particular interest in working with people who grew up in emotionally immature, neglectful, or unsafe environments — those who were asked to take on too much too soon, or who carry shame, grief, or hurt that has shaped how they see themselves. These early experiences can echo into adult life, often showing up as anxiety, depression, or a sense of never quite belonging — even if you're doing your very best to hold it all together on the outside but feel out of step with societal expectations — people who may struggle with low self-esteem, difficult relationships, trauma (past or present), attachment wounds, family estrangement, or abuse.
Above all, I aim to create a space where you feel seen, heard, and supported — a space where real, meaningful change can happen at your own pace.
If any of this resonates with you, I’d be honoured to walk alongside you in your healing journey.
My first session
I understand how frightening it can be to start therapy and so the first session sets out what you can expect from me as your counsellor. I will also provide you with important information regarding the contract we have working together and at this point you might like to bring any questions you have. We might talk about previous therapy experiences or you might want to tell me what's going on for you straightaway, either way I will be led by you. This is 50 minutes of the week which is just about you.
