About me and my therapy practice

If you鈥檙e a gay man or woman navigating anxiety, identity questions, or relationship stress, you might be exhausted by your own thoughts. Maybe you鈥檙e feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure who you are anymore.

Therapy can be a place to step back and start understanding yourself again.

I offer LGBTQIA+ affirming counselling, with specific experience supporting gay men and women through identity struggles, low self-esteem, and anxious thinking. I also have a background in sexual health and LGBTQ+ charity work, which gives me insight into the broader social pressures many queer clients face.

I came to therapy as a client before I ever trained as a counsellor. My own experiences with anxiety and rumination now influence the way I help others鈥攑ractical, non-judgemental, and honest support.

Practice description

The ethos behind my practice is that we will only go as far as you are comfortable. We may establish a general goal for therapy together, but week by week, the sessions are yours - I won't lead or dictate. I liken my practice to helping you arrange a puzzle. If you lay down the pieces, we work together to arrange them.

Some people wish to focus on strength and strategies, which can be useful for anxiety. I have found this particularly true in my work, and especially with male clients.

Together we can work on challenging you and your thought patterns with cognitive behavioral techniques, or searching for practical solutions. The past affects us, but whether we go there or not is up to you.

My first session

I offer a free ten minute phone call to discuss your needs and expectations from therapy.

The first 50 minute session will be about getting to know your story and also offering you the opportunity to ask me any questions about how I work.

Ahead of the session, I will send you some forms to complete, which are important for establishing our working parameters and explain how I store your information.

About me and my therapy practice

Do you feel anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure where to turn?

You may be a gay man or woman who feels like something鈥檚 not right鈥攂ut it鈥檚 hard to explain. Perhaps your thoughts are racing, you feel disconnected, or you鈥檙e stuck in unhelpful relationship patterns.

Therapy gives you the space to unpack what鈥檚 going on and get to the root of things鈥攚ithout judgement.

I work with LGBTQIA+ clients in a safe, inclusive, and affirming way. My work is grounded in years of experience supporting people exploring identity, sexuality, gender, and mental health. I鈥檝e worked closely with sexual health and LGBTQ+ charities and understand the impact of shame, body image issues, and internalised pressure.

I also get it on a personal level. I first came to therapy because of my own struggles with anxiety and constant overthinking. That experience has shaped my approach鈥攅mpathetic, straightforward, and focused on what works.

Practice description

The ethos behind my practice is that you, as the client, are in charge of direction.

I am person-centred, and very much lean into the nature of counselling as talking therapy. If agreed, we can work on challenging you and your thought patterns with cognitive behavioral techniques, or searching for practical solutions. The past affects us, but whether we go there or not is up to you.

About me and my therapy practice

I help people with anxiety, relationships (especially trauma), self-esteem issues, and grief. Therapy is about connection, feeling heard and understood鈥攁nd sometimes even finding lightness in the process. I offer a safe space for you to explore and make sense of things.

I primarily work with queer men and women experiencing anxiety, self esteem issues and those struggling in relationships, particularly when it comes to narcissistic abuse and trauma.

I have a deep commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community, offering queer-affirming therapy with experience in addressing issues around sexuality. Having worked with Leeds-based sexual health charities, I鈥檓 well-versed in the unique challenges faced by gay men and the broader queer community.

I know what it鈥檚 like to feel overwhelmed鈥攚hether it鈥檚 anxiety, uncertainty about where life is going, or struggling with relationships. My own experience with panic attacks and overthinking led me to therapy, first as a client, then as a counsellor. That journey shaped how I work today.

Sometimes, life just feels stuck. You might not even know exactly what鈥檚 wrong鈥攋ust that something isn鈥檛 working. Maybe it鈥檚 self-doubt creeping in, the same relationship patterns playing out, or a general sense of being lost. I offer a space to unpack all of that, to help you make sense of your thoughts and emotions without judgment or psychobabble.

About me and my therapy practice

Are you a gay man or woman feeling lost, anxious, or stuck in old patterns?

You might not be able to pinpoint exactly what鈥檚 wrong鈥攋ust that something鈥檚 off. Maybe your thoughts feel overwhelming, self-doubt is taking over, or the same relationship struggles keep repeating themselves.

I offer a space to slow down, understand what鈥檚 happening, and find a way through.

I work with the LGBTQIA+ community, offering therapy that鈥檚 queer-affirming and grounded in lived experience. I鈥檝e supported clients exploring gender, sexuality, body image, and identity, and I鈥檝e worked with sexual health charities supporting gay and bisexual men around confidence and anxiety.

I know what it鈥檚 like to live with overthinking. My own journey into therapy started with anxiety and a sense of being constantly 鈥渙n alert.鈥 That personal experience now shapes how I support others鈥攃almly, openly, and with clarity.
