About me and my therapy practice
I’m Louise, a compassionate and dedicated counsellor who can help you through life’s challenges and transitions. My approach is grounded in empathy, respect and collaboration. I create a safe and non-judgemental space where you can explore your experiences, build insight and move towards meaningful change.
My clients are from all backgrounds, and I have several professional roles. I lead bereavement services in a busy NHS hospital. I’m a fertility counsellor for a leading national clinic and I help trauma patients at a local Hampshire agency. I help people navigate: grief, suicide, baby/child loss, infertility, preconception/conception, pregnancy/birth/parenthood, divorce, relationship issues, anger, trauma and life transitions all of which often lead to isolation, stress, anxiety or depression for individuals and/or those around them.
Through my work I have gained deeper knowledge of trauma, grief and loss. I’m an accredited practitioner at the Foundation of Infant Loss and I’ve trained with the British Infertility Counselling Association and the baby loss organisation Sands. I’ve also volunteered with Cruse Bereavement Support on the national helpline and facilitating groups.
I also have a particular interest in women’s health, including pregnancy, fertility, IVF treatment, motherhood, perinatal & postnatal challenges and the menopause. However, I am also passionate about helping men and same sex or non-binary partners to navigate some of these areas too, especially in the parenting journey, recognising the challenges that arise both in relationships and within ourselves as families are formed.
I also have a special interest and experience with supporting families and friends impacted by suicide.
Practice description
I am an integrative therapist, drawing from humanistic theories, Transactional Analysis (TA) and neuroscience. I have a trauma informed approach and will tailor each session to your specific needs and goals.
I have respect for all, and I’m fascinated about how we connect and impact each other. You will always be encouraged to be, or explore, whoever you wish to be, with no judgement or critique.
We will work together to explore your feelings and needs gently, as I understand how daunting this may feel. I will help you make better choices, develop healthy coping strategies and understand yourself better so you can lead the life you choose.
My first session
Initial consultation, first session and review process.
I offer a free 15 minute consultation over the phone, so you can ask me any questions about how I work, get a sense of who I am, discuss what you’re looking for and need, and see how it might feel for us to work together.
In our first session, we will complete an assessment form with general questions about your health and wellbeing. This will include getting to now each other and exploring:
What brought you to therapy?
Recent feelings, thoughts or behaviours you’ve noticed?
What you’d like to explore together?
Your hopes and goals for therapy?
Towards the end of the session we'll reflect on:
How you felt in the session?
Whether you felt safe and comfortable?
If you’re ready to continue working together?
Based on this, we’ll decide the next steps together.
I will also check in regularly with you in ongoing sessions to see how you feel things are going, creating space for you to share your feedback in order to make any necessary changes.
My rate is £65 for a 50-minute session.
