Availability
I currently have limited availability for new clients and offer flexible appointment times across my three locations in Kelso, Tweedbank, and Hawick, as well as online.
Most sessions take place during daytime and evening hours throughout the week. I aim to accommodate school timetables and family routines wherever possible, and can occasionally offer later appointments by arrangement.
If you鈥檙e unsure which type of session would best meet your needs (for yourself, your child, or your family), I鈥檓 happy to arrange a free 20-minute phone or video call to discuss options before booking.
All therapy spaces are private, sound-treated, and wheelchair accessible (Tweedbank and Hawick). I do not offer home visits.
I recognise that life circumstances, sensory sensitivities and energy patterns vary greatly, so I aim to offer as much flexibility as possible with scheduling and format. My intention is to make therapy accessible and sustainable for each client, whether sessions take place in-person or online.
I welcome enquiries from both neurodivergent and neurotypical clients. Many of the themes I work with 鈥 anxiety, low mood, identity and relationships 鈥 affect people of all neurotypes, and my aim is always to meet each person鈥檚 unique way of experiencing the world.
About me and my therapy practice
I鈥檓 an integrative therapist working with children, teenagers, young adults, parents and families. My approach brings together psychodynamic, humanistic, CBT and systemic thinking 鈥 allowing me to adapt sessions to each person鈥檚 age, needs and way of processing the world.
Much of my work centres on anxiety, low mood, identity and self-esteem 鈥 particularly where autism or ADHD influence how a person experiences emotion, learning and relationships. I specialise in neuro-affirming practice that helps clients and families understand these patterns with curiosity rather than judgement, focusing on self-acceptance rather than 鈥渇ixing鈥 difference.
Therapy is collaborative and flexible. For some clients this means a calm, reflective space with structure and predictability; for others, creative or play-based approaches that make emotional work feel safer and more accessible. I pay careful attention to the sensory environment, pacing and communication style, recognising that these factors can be central to wellbeing.
My work is strongly informed by developmental psychology and family systems theory. I often support parents alongside young people to improve mutual understanding and restore connection within relationships that have become strained by stress, burnout or difference.
Alongside my private practice, I also hold senior clinical and training roles within local and national services, which help me stay connected to current developments in counselling and psychotherapy. My core training was integrative, and I hold advanced postgraduate training in counselling children, young people and families from a psychodynamic perspective.
I believe that meaningful change happens when people feel safe, understood and accepted as they are. My aim is to help clients and families move from overwhelm toward clarity, confidence and connection.
Practice description
Sessions are available in Kelso, Tweedbank and Hawick, as well as online for clients across Scotland and the UK.
I provide:
- Individual therapy for children, teens and young adults (typically ages 10 鈥 35).
- Parent consultations to support understanding and communication.
- Family sessions when shared patterns or relational difficulties are best explored together.
Sessions start from 拢65 for individual therapy and are 拢80 for parent or family consultations. A reduced-rate introductory session (拢40) is available for in-person appointments, and limited concessions are offered for low-income clients.
My practice is neuro-affirming, trauma-informed and LGBTQ+ inclusive. Each space is quiet, sensory-aware and designed for comfort. Clients are invited to shape the pace and format of sessions, whether that means reflective talking work, creative expression, or a structured goal-focused approach.
Therapy can be brief or longer-term depending on your needs. All venues are confidential, wheelchair accessible and designed to provide a sense of calm and safety. I also understand that starting therapy can feel daunting, especially for those who have felt misunderstood or unsupported in the past. Every aspect of my practice 鈥 from environment to communication 鈥 is designed to reduce anxiety and promote trust. I welcome enquiries from individuals and families seeking a therapeutic space that is both professional and genuinely human.
Online sessions are particularly suitable for clients who prefer a familiar environment or need greater flexibility due to health, sensory or travel considerations.
Privacy notice: Personal information shared in enquiries will be handled confidentially and in line with data protection law. My full privacy notice is available on request.
My first session
The first session is a space to explore what brings you, your child or your family to therapy and to decide together whether my approach feels like a good fit.
For younger clients, the first appointment may take place with a parent or caregiver to gather background information and consider what the young person might find most comfortable. For adolescents and adults, the first session focuses on your goals, experiences and hopes for therapy.
I place importance on predictability and clear structure, particularly for neurodivergent clients, and will always explain what to expect. It鈥檚 not a feedback or 鈥渁dvice鈥 session at this stage, but an opportunity for me to form a clear understanding before suggesting next steps.
Fees: 拢65 individual | 拢80 parent/family | 拢40 reduced-rate introductory session (in-person). Free 20-minute phone or video calls are also available for initial enquiries.
My aim is that you leave the first meeting with a sense of calm, clarity and realistic next steps.
