About me and my therapy practice
I work using a person-centred approach, mindful that you are the expert in your own life. My role is not to instruct or tell you how to live your life, my role is to provide you with a confidential and nurturing environment where you feel safe and respected to discuss your worries and consider your future goals and aspirations.
Utilising my knowledge and training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, I will work collaboratively with you to help you explore and better understand the thoughts and feelings you are experiencing, as well as your current way of coping with them. Gaining this insight is an important first step towards identifying the changes you want to make to improve your wellbeing and quality of life.
Practice description
I am an experienced counsellor with a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
I have worked for over two decades in a caring environment, initially in an administrative role within the public sector as I worked towards qualification, and then as a practitioner working with organisations supporting people dealing with mental health problems. I have worked with adults and young people dealing with a diverse range of issues online and face to face. This experience has given me an appreciation of the complexity of life and the many challenges people face day to day. It has also afforded me opportunities to participate in a variety of training that has been beneficial to the ongoing development of my practice.
My first session
Fundamentally our first session will be about getting to know each other and establishing whether I will be a good fit for you.
I will ask you questions to enable me to gain an understanding of you as an individual and your current situation. Please rest assured that you are not obliged to share any information you do not feel comfortable sharing.
You will also have the opportunity to ask me any questions you have regarding my practice, qualifications, experience and way of working.
This initial session is also a good time to let me know if you have any particular preferences or specifications you would like me to accommodate.
