About me and my therapy practice
My therapeutic approach draws on Transactional Analysis and Psychodynamic principles with a strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship. I pay close attention to what may be unfolding, both consciously and unconsciously, between us in the room, as this often can hold key insights into your inner world.
Our work together would be active and collaborative. We’ll explore how you have come to understand your life experiences, paying particular attention to how your past may be influencing the ways in which you are currently living your life. Through this process, we can begin to make sense of your story and create space for meaningful awareness and change.
People come to therapy for many different reasons, and I believe each person’s therapeutic project is entirely unique. Together, we’ll look at where you’ve been, where you are now, and who you would like to become.
I have experience working with individuals aged 16 to 83, and I currently work with individuals, couples, and families on a weekly basis. If you’d like to know more about how I work, my qualifications, or my past/present/additional roles, please visit my website.
Practice description
PgDip Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy
- I am undertaking a secondary level 7 intensive psychotherapy training in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy, accredited by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
Transference-Focused Psychotherapy (Stage 1)
- I have completed further advanced training in Transference-Focused Psychotherapy, this is an adapted psychoanalytic approach of psychotherapy for personality disorders.
MSc Integrative Counselling (Distinction)
- I completed a level 7 (MSc) qualification in integrative counselling which trained me in several approaches such as psychodynamic, person-centred, cognitive and behavioural approaches. I can cater the therapy to your needs and desired outcomes.
Experience
- I have worked with people experiencing a variety of difficulties such as anxiety, depression, trauma, disordered eating, relationship difficulties, and bereavement to name a few. I specifically have experience working with relationships (inc. family issues), anxiety, life changing diagnoses, and people struggling with existential difficulties in their lives. If you are struggling with something that I have not listed, please get in touch and we can have an open discussion as to whether I would be the right therapist for you.
My first session
I structure our meetings in two parts. I offer 3-4 initial meetings that will be quite exploratory in nature, I may ask you some questions about your life, relationships, and previous experiences in therapy. Within these sessions we will also attempt to uncover what the ‘therapeutic contract’ may be, this pertains to what it is that you may be hoping to get from the experience. Since the therapeutic relationship is paramount, we will also explore how it is that we both feel working together and whether we both feel that we are the right ‘fit’. Once we have agreed upon a therapeutic contract, our work will begin.
What I can help with
Abuse, Addictions, AIDS/HIV, Anger management, Anxiety, Bereavement, Cultural issues, Depression, Eating disorders, Health related issues, Identity issues, LGBTQ+ counselling, Loss, Men's issues, Mood disorder, Obsessions, Phobias, Post-traumatic stress, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Sex-related issues, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Stress, Substance Dependency, Trauma, Vegan allied
