About me and my therapy practice
Hello! My name is Sami (she/her), I specialise in working with anxiety, self-esteem, confidence and the LGBTQ+ community. I would love to be part of your journey to self discovery, growth and acceptance. I also have experience working with depression, bereavement, self-harm, OCD, gender identity and sexuality and life stage changes. I will offer you a space where you can truly be yourself - and if you're not sure who that true self is yet, I can be a support as you develop and discover the person you want to be.
I can offer you a supportive and encouraging space to explore your concerns. My speciality relates to self-esteem, self acceptance and identity. I use different theories and approaches (such as CBT and the person-centred approach) in a way that matches what you would like to focus on to make sure you get the most out of your sessions.
When I'm not working you will most likely find me in brightly coloured dungarees hanging out with my dog. Please don't hesitate to get in contact if you have any questions or want any more information.
It can be nerve-racking reaching out for support. I can provide a warm, non-judgemental space for you to share your concerns. My fee is £45 a session, I do offer some concession fee spaces starting at £35 - please get in contact to discuss what concessionary rates are available at the moment.
Practice description
My counselling service is called Spark Counselling, which is a name inspired by lyrics from a favourite song of mine: 'It's just a spark, but it's enough to keep me going' which, to me, sums up my own experience of personal counselling. It takes one spark of hope and motivation to make a change in life, you've taken that first step by looking for a counsellor and that is something to be celebrated (the song is called Last Hope by Paramore for anyone interested).
I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, a Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, a degree in Psychology and Counselling and a Master's degree in Health Psychology.
I am trained as an Integrative counsellor which means I am able to draw on different theories to best support you. Some of the theories I am trained in are Person-Centred, which puts the client as the expert in their experience; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which looks at how thoughts and behaviour are linked; Transpersonal, which takes a soul/spiritual, broader connection to well-being into account; and Gestalt, which views behaviour and thoughts as a whole and looks at patterns of being.
Message me on here or request a call back to find out more and book in a session.
