About me and my therapy practice
I work in-person (Barnet) and online. I offer a blending of counselling approaches with each client's particular concern or concerns and a non-judgemental, safe space for clients to talk, discover and understand their individual experience. The work can be open-ended or time-limited.
Alongside my integrative training I have a specific qualifications in working with anxiety and depression called Person-Centered Experiential Counselling for Depression used in the NHS Talking Therapies and hold a professional therapeutic qualification to work as a trauma-informed counsellor and offer trauma informed skills. As well as my private clinic I work as an anxiety and depression specialist therapist for Mind in Barnet and the Mind Hertfordshire Network.
Additionally, I also help clients address a wider range of mental health concerns including: low self-esteem, harsh inner critic, trauma, domestic abuse, childhood abuse, bereavement and loss, stress, anger management, career transitions, life transitions, sleep issues and boarding school syndrome. I offer a neuro-affirmative approach (ADHD and AuDHD) and have worked with clients with or without a diagnoses.
Practice description
What to expect in therapy:
Therapy can be a scary prospect. What do I say? How can I be vulnerable with a stranger? Will it work? Are all normal questions. My intention is to, over a few sessions, start to create a trusting working relationships. If a client doesn't know where to start I can helpfully prompt and guide.
My way of working:
My work is centered around the client's needs. I offer a blending of different therapeutic theories to help shed light on different times and aspects of your life. I can listen empathically, offer different perspectives and integrate your sessions with tools that can help you navigate today’s often fast paced and unpredictable world.
I can offer time-limited, short-term and long term therapeutic work with regular reviews. I offer a 30 minute free one-off consultation online or on the telephone and prior to our first formal session I email out a therapeutic contract outlining my policies and procedures and a document asking for client contact details/GP details which the client signs. I adhere to the Íø±¬ÃÅ ethical framework.
Getting curious:
Often our inner voice, the voice that pops up when we haven’t achieved, haven’t completed, or haven’t communicated is a harsh inner critic. Do you imagine how life might be if that voice was kind, forgiving and full of love? Do you ask yourself 'what's wrong with me?'. Curiosity is a superpower. I offer a free half hour consultation for help you start your journey of curiosity.
My first session
I offer a free 30 minute consultation session either online or on the telephone so that the client and myself can see if we might work therapeutically together. In this shorter session I also ask some questions about the client's history and what has brought them to counselling.
The first session and subsequent sessions will cost £70. Details of confidentiality, risk assessment, payment procedures, cancellation policy, holidays and absences are outlined in my counselling contract which the client receives when we have agreed to work together.
