About me and my therapy practice

I am a fully licensed, dedicated psychotherapist working with adults and young people. I completed my training at Westminster Pastoral Foundation; a rigorous, reputable training which gave me the skills to address difficult emotions and feelings, that can sit uncomfortably within us.

Deciding to embark on a course of therapy is not always an easy step. I am very conscious to work at your speed, to explore with you the tensions and anxieties you bring. It is a collaborative process and building our relationship is very important to me. The work can be difficult and challenging at times but within a confidential, trusting, empathetic environment, the aim is to explore the routes of behaviours and feelings, which may now play a negative role in your present life.

Childhood experiences, past and current relationships, life events and choices, can all affect our lives and shape reactions and feelings, in ways that we might not recognise nor wish for. Perhaps you have a need to discuss a particular issue or have suffered significant trauma or loss. Perhaps there are feelings of loneliness or low self-worth that you feel, hold you back. Together, through our relationship, we work to untangle some of these difficulties, whilst working towards a more positive, fulfilling future.

Practice description

I work in private practice either on-line or in-person in Orford, Suffolk and in London. Each session is 50 minutes in length. The sessions allow the client to bring material from their lives that they wish to explore and better 'manage'. Having a therapist to purely listen and think about possible meanings, can shift one's perspective, allowing life enhancing change, as well as providing therapeutic value.

In addition, I have many years experience of working with students, age 15yrs and above, who have school/university based anxiety or have a diagnosis of ADHD, dyslexia or autism. During our sessions we can discuss these areas of difficulty and think of ways to better manage associating challenges. I also have experience working with young people who suffer from perfectionism, procrastination self-harm, OCD, eating disorders and exam anxiety.

My first session

Initially we will have a 15 minute phone conversation (at no charge) for you to tell me why you are seeking therapy and when you might like to start. It also gives you an opporunity to hear how I work.

If you would then like to go ahead, I think it is important for clients to experience four weekly sessions of fifty minutes long after which, you can decide whether to continue working within my practice or whether a different therapy might be more suitable at this time.  I encourage this approach as believe it is very important that a client finds the right therapist to work with.
