About me and my therapy practice

Does life sometimes feel like it’s getting on top of you? Do things feel overwhelming, even when you can’t quite name the reasons why? Perhaps you feel low without fully understanding what’s behind it. I’m here to listen - to help you explore and process these thoughts and feelings - so you can begin to understand yourself more deeply. That growing self-awareness can help you navigate life, your emotions, and your reactions with more clarity and confidence.

At times, a fresh perspective from outside your situation is what’s needed most. When we’re in the thick of strong emotions or stress, it’s often difficult to see things clearly. Counselling can provide that wider lens, allowing you to step back and make more considered, empowered choices.

Often, values, habits, or routines we’ve held for years - sometimes without question - can keep us stuck, even hold us back. What once served us may now be doing harm. It might be something from your past shaping your present. Together, we can gently explore and unpick those patterns, helping you move forward with purpose. I will support and challenge you with care, helping to re-frame limiting ideas in a way that feels both safe and constructive.

Sessions are tailored to you. You set the pace, choose the time, and guide the direction. You’re welcome to book a single session or a block; weekly appointments may work well, but I understand that flexibility matters, and I’ll always try to meet your needs. This is your space to focus on yourself, and I’ll encourage you to show yourself the same compassion you so readily offer others.

Practice description

I work from my cosy garden office, a private and peaceful setting designed to offer you a safe, discreet, and confidential space to explore your thoughts and emotions. I listen with empathy and without judgement, giving you the opportunity to offload what’s troubling you and begin processing what lies beneath.

My counselling approach is primarily person-centred—meaning our sessions are guided by your lived experiences and emotional responses to what’s happening in your life. Together, we create space to reflect, understand, and move towards meaningful change.

Many aspects of our lifestyle - what we eat, how we sleep, how active we are - can have a powerful impact on our mental wellbeing. Where appropriate, I gently weave in some lifestyle coaching techniques to support this connection. These simple yet effective strategies invite clients to explore small, manageable changes that can help cultivate resilience and a greater sense of wellness.

My journey into counselling emerged from my background in education, and a growing recognition of just how life-changing a simple conversation can be. I've seen first-hand the power of actually being heard properly and fully, and it's this belief that continues to inspire my work today.

Over the years, I’ve taught, mentored, and supported individuals in a variety of settings. Each role deepened my passion for emotional wellbeing and the importance of compassionate communication. Now, in private practice, I offer a calm and caring environment where clients can rediscover clarity, confidence, and connection.

My first session

Our initial session lasts 50 minutes and serves as a gentle starting point for your counselling journey. Together, we’ll complete an assessment to help me understand what’s brought you here, and begin exploring what you’d like to gain from our time together.

This is also your space to get a feel for counselling - how it works, how it can support you - and to decide if working with me feels like a good fit. There’s no pressure, just a calm, confidential environment where you can begin to share and reflect.

At the end of our first session, you’re free to choose what feels right for you: whether that’s booking a single follow-up session or deciding on a block of sessions. There’s absolutely no pressure to commit. This is your journey, and we’ll move at your pace.
