About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified Integrative Humanistic Counsellor offering therapy to adults, adolescents, and couples facing emotional, relational, and psychological challenges. I aim to make the therapeutic process as accessible and comfortable as possible.
To support you in taking the first step, I offer a free 15–20-minute consultation via phone or online. This initial conversation gives us space to explore your needs and see whether we are the right fit.
Starting therapy can feel daunting, especially if you’re feeling anxious, uncertain, or vulnerable. I understand this both personally and professionally. I provide a warm, confidential, and non-judgmental space where you can share thoughts and emotions at your own pace. My work is grounded in empathy, trust, and collaboration. Values that are central to building a strong therapeutic relationship.
As both a therapist and a former client, I deeply appreciate how transformative therapy can be. Research consistently highlights the importance of the client-therapist relationship in achieving positive outcomes. I honour this by creating a respectful, compassionate, and tailored environment that supports your individual experiences and goals.
My integrative approach draws from several evidence-based models:
• Person-Centred Therapy: Emphasising empathy and acceptance to support self-discovery.
• Transactional Analysis: Exploring relational patterns and improving communication.
• Gestalt Therapy: Increasing present-moment awareness and integration of thoughts, feelings, and actions.
• Egan’s Model: Providing a structured, goal-oriented framework for personal growth.
Practice description
I offer professional counselling in a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative environment. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, identity issues, relationships, or life transitions, I will work alongside you to explore what’s going on and help you find a way forward.
My practice is rooted in the belief that every person is unique, and therapy should reflect that. Together, we’ll explore your experiences with curiosity and care, and we’ll go at a pace that feels right for you. Sessions are guided by your needs and goals, with flexibility to adapt as your journey evolves.
I work with adults, young people, and couples, and I tailor sessions to suit each client’s preferences, whether face-to-face, online, or by phone.
In addition to my private practice, I’ve worked with clients across a range of settings, including:
• Community Counselling Services
• Domestic Violence Refuges
• Secondary and Primary Schools
• Sixth Form and University settings
This experience has given me insight into the challenges people face at various life stages, and allows me to work sensitively and effectively with diverse backgrounds and identities.
If you're considering counselling, I offer a safe space where you can be heard, understood, and supported in making meaningful change. You don’t have to face things alone.
My first session
I offer a free 15–20-minute consultation via phone or online before our first full session. This is a chance for you to ask questions, share what’s bringing you to therapy, and get a sense of how I work. It also helps us decide whether we’re the right fit before beginning ongoing sessions.
In our first full session, we complete an initial assessment to build a picture of your current situation and background. This may include gathering details such as your contact information, GP details, and relevant family history. I also use a brief, evidence-based questionnaire to help identify your current level of psychological distress, which can help guide our work together and monitor progress if that feels helpful.
We’ll take time to go through the counselling agreement and privacy statement, usually sent in advance for you to feel clear about how I work, what to expect, and your rights as a client. The session itself is paced by you. There’s no pressure to go into everything at once. It’s about beginning to build trust and understanding.
If the therapy is for a young person, I will speak with their parent or carer before the first session to discuss the process, confidentiality, and safeguarding. For couples, I usually speak with each partner individually before the first joint session, creating space for each person to share their perspective and hopes for therapy.
I aim to make therapy accessible and am open to discussing options if cost is a concern.
Whether you're new to therapy or returning, the first session is a gentle, supportive introduction. You're welcome to decide at the end whether you'd like to continue or take time to reflect. The choice is entirely yours.
