About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to my profile 😊 I strongly believe that mental health is just as important as physical health and should be treated as so. I am here to support you through the obstacles that you may be facing. Therapy has helped me through my own issues with binge eating disorder, anxiety, depression, and ASD. I now enjoy my role as an accredited counsellor/psychotherapist helping others through their own issues.
I am able to work with individuals aged 16+ in Liverpool and across the UK. I have a first class psychology degree, a post-graduate diploma in counselling and psychotherapy, a certificate in autism awareness in counselling, and I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Íø±¬ÃÅ).
Before going into private therapy practice I worked in retail, care, at Harmony General Counselling Service, and Liverpool Domestic Abuse Service. I work with a wide range of issues; however, my main experience is with depression, SAD, stress, anxiety, ASD, ADHD, abuse, relationship/family issues, and eating disorders. I regularly engage in clinical supervision and training to ensure my continuing professional development, I am insured and I hold an enhanced DBS.
Client quotes:
"You are very understanding and I am comfortable opening up to you. Thanks Melissa ! You have helped me put myself back together. I would be nowhere near as far along as I am without your help. :)"
"Thank you for being so understanding and kind. I feel like I get so much out of the sessions. I feel really lucky to have found you."
"I can really see the improvement in my mental health from when I started with you to now. You create a safe space where I feel comfortable to talk through difficult and challenging life events, so that I can better understand and process them, which infinitely improves my mental health! I also really appreciate that you made the time to see me around my busy schedule"
Practice description
Each session lasts between 50 and 60 minutes. They can be face to face, online via teams, or telephone. Therapy involves talking through your issues. It works by providing a safe, accepting, and confidential space where you can explore what is going on in your life without any judgement. It can help by allowing you to talk freely, increasing self-awareness, and helping you to find what you need whether that be acceptance or making changes. I understand that everyone’s experience is different so we can progress at a rate that is comfortable for you. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions!
My first session
I can offer a free 10-15 minute consultation before the first session to answer any questions you may have. During the first session we begin to discuss the issues that you are facing and how you want to approach them in further sessions.
