Hi I'm Stuart, a warm and supportive counsellor and psychotherapist. I offer a collaborative safe space for counselling for emotional healing, to support your mental health, improve wellness and supporting your growth.
If you think you would like us to work together, please send me an email so we can arrange a "get to know me" phone call or a free consultation session.
About me and my therapy practice
I am qualified to work integratively by combining Person Centred Therapy with Attachment Theory and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). It is important to use methods which have good evidence for effective and safe ethical therapy. Importantly I work within the Íø±¬ÃÅ ethical framework for your safety and assurance.
The most important component of counselling is relational depth ... that is the relationship between the counsellor and you, the client. It's proven that this relationship is more important than the type of therapy. I offer a free consultation session to get to know each other and decide if I'm a therapist you want to work with.

About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome
I'm Stuart a Counsellor and Psychotherapist based in Bonnyrigg near Edinburgh and also working from Dalkeith offering in person and online counselling. The decision to seek support can be a big step, and the issues that have brought you too counselling can be so difficult. Working with the right counsellor and developing a good counselling relationship is paramount.I offer a collaborative safe space for counselling for emotional healing, to support your mental health, improve wellness and supporting your growth.
I am qualified with a Masters in Counselling & Psychotherapy. Im trained to work with Person Centred Therapy (where you are the expert) Attachment (how you relate to others) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
My journey into counselling and Psychotherapy started with a deep desire to make a real difference to peoples lives. This has been the privilege of a lifetime. It took a lot of searching for this perfect career but as an empath with a warm persona, it seems to fit me like a glove. I naturally see the strengths in people with a non judgemental attitude.
I have lead a rich and varied life with loads of diverse life experience. I grew up in a farming and road haulage background, working from a young age ... and loving it. I have also trained in Holistic Therapies, mainly concentrating on Aromatherapy, and I trained as a Radiographer (Radiotherapy) in Bristol. It was in this career, supporting patients with cancer that I thought about a career in a counselling role.
I'm a Cornishman but live near Edinburgh, I have 3 dogs who I love walking in the countryside with. I love cycling, being outdoors, coffee and cake, watching rugby, people, wellbeing, creativity and design.
Practice description
I specialise in:
Trauma informed Therapy - processing and understanding childhood or adult trauma.
Gender, Sex & Relationship Diversity, including ethical non-monogamy and polyamory.
Neurodiversity - I am a therapist with lived experience (although call myself neuro-spicy).
Adult and Childhood Trauma
Trauma can affect every part of life, but it doesn't define you. Whether it began in childhood or more recently, therapy offers a safe, compassionate space to explore your story. With trauma-informed training, I understand how trauma impacts emotions, relationships, and the body. Together, we’ll gently explore the past, strengthen your resilience, and help you reconnect with your inner wholeness. Healing is possible — and you don’t have to do it alone.
Neurodiversity
Neurodivergence isn’t something to fix — it’s something to honour. Drawing from training and my own lived experience, I offer a space where you don’t have to mask who you are. Together, we’ll explore your strengths, manage challenges, and find ways to thrive that feel right for you. Therapy here is about embracing your unique self.
Gender Sex and Relationship Diversity (LGBTQ+ Polyamory & Ethical Non-Monogamy)
You deserve to be seen and valued exactly as you are. I offer LGBTQ+ affirmative therapy grounded in specialist training and lived experience, where your identity is celebrated as a strength. Whether you're exploring identity, healing, or seeking belonging, this space is yours — for authenticity, healing, and joy.
Living authentically takes courage. Whether you practice non-monogamy or want this part of you understood, I offer a supportive space to explore relationships, build self-trust, and feel affirmed in your choices.
My first session
The first session is free, and this is for a reason. The most important element of therapy is how you connect with your therapist, and this session allows you to see how you feel. Its also a good chance to see where your at.
