About me and my therapy practice

Face-to-face or online sessions available in Bonnyrigg and Dalkeith.

Hello, I’m Stuart. Reaching out for support can take courage, and I want to acknowledge the strength it takes to take this first step.

Counselling with me is about creating a safe, supportive space where you feel truly heard and understood. Clients often describe me as easy to talk to and non-judgmental, someone who listens deeply and reflects in ways that bring clarity and relief. I draw on a range of approaches, adapting them to fit your needs, while always working at a pace that feels right for you. Together, we can explore challenges in a compassionate and constructive way, with gentle encouragement to move toward the changes you hope for. My aim is to build a relationship of trust, authenticity, and care, where you feel valued and supported.

I welcome people from all walks of life and have experience supporting those who’ve lived through traumatic childhood or adult experiences. My practice is also affirming of LGBTQ+ identities and relationship diversity, including polyamory or ethical non-monogamy. As someone with lived experience of being neurodivergent (or ‘neuro-spicy’ as I like to say), I understand the importance of creating a space where you can be fully yourself.

I believe therapy should be safe, effective, and focused on what really helps you. I work within the Íø±¬ÃÅ ethical framework and am fully insured, so you can feel confident that your wellbeing is always at the centre of our work together. More than any specific method, research shows that the relationship we build is what matters most — how safe, understood, and supported you feel with your therapist. That’s why I offer a free consultation session, so you can get a sense of how I work and decide if I feel like the right fit for you. If you’d like to explore working together, please send me an email — I’d be glad to hear from you.

Practice description

I specialise in:

Trauma informed Therapy - processing and understanding childhood or adult trauma.

Gender, Sex & Relationship Diversity, including ethical non-monogamy and polyamory.

Neurodiversity - I am a therapist with lived experience (although call myself neuro-spicy).

Adult and Childhood Trauma

Trauma can affect every part of life, but it doesn't define you. Whether it began in childhood or more recently, therapy offers a safe, compassionate space to explore your story. With trauma-informed training, I understand how trauma impacts emotions, relationships, and the body. Together, we’ll gently explore the past, strengthen your resilience, and help you reconnect with your inner wholeness. Healing is possible — and you don’t have to do it alone.

Neurodiversity

Neurodivergence isn’t something to fix — it’s something to honour. Drawing from training and my own lived experience, I offer a space where you don’t have to mask who you are. Together, we’ll explore your strengths, manage challenges, and find ways to thrive that feel right for you. Therapy here is about embracing your unique self.

Gender Sex and Relationship Diversity (LGBTQ+ Polyamory & Ethical Non-Monogamy)

You deserve to be seen and valued exactly as you are. I offer LGBTQ+ affirmative therapy grounded in specialist training and lived experience, where your identity is celebrated as a strength. Whether you're exploring identity, healing, or seeking belonging, this space is yours — for authenticity, healing, and joy.

Living authentically takes courage. Whether you practice non-monogamy or want this part of you understood, I offer a supportive space to explore relationships, build self-trust, and feel affirmed in your choices.

My first session

The first session is free, and this is for a reason. The most important element of therapy is how you connect with your therapist, and this session allows you to see how you feel. Its also a good chance to see where your at.
