About me and my therapy practice
Experienced Humanistic psychotherapist passionate about supporting adults in all stages of life to recover from traumatic experiences, change, loss, and emotional distress to live more fully. If you are struggling emotionally, worried about your mental health, or would like to cope better with life's challenges, I offer a warm, compassionate space where you are safe to be vulnerable and find your way through.
If you are reading this, you may feel lost, stuck or unable to manage the demands of life. As your therapist, my focus is to help you to reconnect with your innate ability to thrive. When life is tough we often lose confidence in ourselves, becoming overwhelmed, isolated or even ashamed that we can't cope. Its hard to reach out to friends and family. This is a lonely place. I want to reassure you that you are not alone in your struggle.
My therapy works by offering you a safe, dedicated relationship where your unique experience is valued, understood and with this new self-awareness you will see your way through. We work together to help you build a deeper, sustainable, more compassionate connection with your whole self. With this foundation you are able to start moving forward. Find out more about how my therapy works on my website www.lucywalthoe.com
I have experience in the NHS, charity sector and addiction recovery services, offering clients compassionate support. Prior to training as a psychotherapist I worked for 15 years in crisis management, helping organisations recover from challenging situations. I also have a background in philosophy. I bring all of my experience to my work with clients.
Practice description
Working online with some limited availability for in-person sessions. I work short-term, long-term and on an open-ended basis, for as long as our work supports you. This is something we agree together. We typically meet for sessions on a weekly basis for 50 minutes.
The quality of our relationship is central to how I work and I take the time, collaborating with you, to understand your unique experience, needs, strengths and goals for therapy and tailor my approach to you. I ensure we have regular reviews to ensure our work is meeting your needs.
My core training is in Person-centred and Gestalt psychotherapy, which both emphasise an open and trusting relationship between us. I bring my warm presence, curiosity, and gentle challenge to help you increase your self-awareness. I integrate mindfulness, self-compassion, body-focused and trauma-informed practices to support you to connect with your whole self.
I would love to hear from you whatever your worry or question. I welcome exploratory calls. Starting therapy is an important investment in your wellbeing. It can take time to find the right therapist and you may want to speak to more than one. You can text or WhatsApp me on 07812590503 for an initial discussion. My email address is lucywalthoetherapy@gmail.com
My first session
I offer a free 20 minute introductory call as our first step. If you are comfortable following our discussion, we can agree an initial session.
The first session is exploratory, lasts an hour and can take place in-person or online. It is a chance for me to understand your needs and hopes for therapy in more detail and whether I am a fit for you. It gives you an opportunity to experience how I work and reflect on whether you would like me as your therapist. There is no obligation for you to continue after this session.
