About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Charlotte, a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Íø±¬ÃÅ). I am a warm, friendly and approachable counsellor and appreciate it can be daunting to reach out for therapy so I want to provide a clear view of what you can expect from working with me.
I have experience of working with a range of issues, including severe anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, bereavement and have a particular interest in disordered eating and parenting challenges. I am also a trauma informed counsellor, and have trained in self-harm and suicide.
I will follow your lead and support you through the exploration of your issues, standing alongside you through what I know can be a difficult journey. I understand that it can be hard to find clarity in your thoughts using words alone, which is why, where appropriate, I offer creative and exploratory techniques such as sand tray therapy to help you communicate your inner experience and what you're feeling.
I believe the success of counselling relies heavily upon the relationship between counsellor and client, as such, I want you to know I’m a warm, friendly and approachable counsellor who works to empathise and understand what you’re going through and help you feel understood.
By working together we can:
-Provide you with psychoeducation to help you understand your thoughts and feelings better,
-Build your self-esteem,
-Help you to accept yourself,
-Provide you with effective tools to live a more fulfilling life,
-Reduce stress and anxiety,
-Practice boundary setting and help you feel better about saying no,
-Strengthen relationships,
-Reflect on unhelpful thinking patterns and relearn more helpful ones.
I will work with you to realise your own therapeutic goals and provide a tailored approach to support you to reach them.
