About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Charlotte, I am a warm, friendly and approachable counsellor working with adults, children and young people.
I specialise in disordered eating and have extensive experience of working with severe anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, parenting challenges and bereavement. I am also a trauma informed counsellor, and have trained in self-harm and suicide.
What you will gain from working with me
Working with me means working with someone who ensures you feel seen, heard and understood. You will gain the time and space to explore your issues as well as uncover underlying issues that may not be in your current awareness. It’s my hope that you leave my practice with increased self-esteem, self-awareness and a renewed confidence and enthusiasm for life. You will gain insights into your feelings and thought processes, along with tools to experience them in a healthy way. I want to help you gain the self-acceptance needed to live authentically and feel confident in your choices going forward.
Children and young people
When it comes to my work with children and young people, I appreciate the trust parents are putting in me to work with their children and want you to know that as a mum of two myself, this is a responsibility I do not take lightly. I am passionate about supporting children to express themselves in a safe way, and always look to explore the needs of the child beneath the presenting behaviour. I utilise both talking therapy and play techniques in my work with children. I require a consultation with at least one parent or guardian prior to therapy starting.
My approach
I am a very real, open and honest counsellor, and ensure to put you at ease as you enter into counselling. I aim to connect with you and your presenting issues in a very real, warm and personable way. It is my aim to help you feel comfortable to bring all parts of yourself to the therapy room, safe in the knowledge that you will not only be accepted but embraced.

Types of therapy on offer
As well as traditional talking therapy I also offer creative approaches and outdoor walk and talk sessions. The power of nature can be both healing and calming and if you're like me you may appreciate the fresh air to blow the cobwebs away! The outdoor sessions are run from my office in Copmanthorpe and are available to all clients but are particularly helpful for parents with babies and younger toddlers who are happy in the sling or a pram. I also understand the unpredictability of small children so if you need to stop to feed, change or settle your baby, that is absolutely fine. Being a parent should not be a barrier to accessing therapy.
Information regarding sessions:
I am currently offering face to face, walk and talk and online sessions from my office in Copmanthorpe, with availability on Wednesdays and Thursdays through the day and after school hours for children and young people. I also offer some evenings throughout the week subject to request and availability.
I am flexible in my practice so please do reach out to let me know what works for you and I will always do my best to accommodate.
I am very pleased to offer a tranquil counselling room in the form of a converted caravan. This set up means I'm able to offer a home from home experience to my clients, with hot drinks, comfy seating and the ability to utilise the outdoors should you find that helpful. There is ample free parking on site as well as good bus routes that stop just at the top of the road.
My first session
It’s important that your counsellor is right for you, which is why I offer a free, no obligation 20 minute call to help you make that decision. Simply get in touch to arrange your initial call and from there you can decide whether or not it's something you wish to take forward.
