About me and my therapy practice
I'm a person-centred therapist, which means our work is all about you. We will go at your pace, and focus on your needs and experiences. Whatever feels right for you in the moment.
I’m not here to give you a diagnosis or tell you what to do. I’m here to listen, to do my best to understand, to believe you, and to help you untangle things without judgement, pressure, or thinking I know best.
I believe that deep down, you know what you need (even if it doesn’t feel like it right now). My job as a therapist is to create a space where you feel safe enough to explore and connect with whatever’s going on for you. That could look/feel like mess, numbness, overthinking, and stuff you’ve never said out loud before. Together we can start to make sense of things, in a space where it's OK to be honest, confused, angry, overwhelmed, without having to pretend you're not.
It’s not about fixing you (you’re not broken). It’s about sitting with you and getting to know you with honesty, curiosity, and compassion; allowing you to be yourself again, and to enjoy it :-)
Practice description
I work with people who feel anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, or just completely fed up with how things are going. Whether you're dealing with panic, low self-esteem, people pleasing, trauma, grief, or just a general sense of "what’s the point?" I can offer a space where you can actually breathe and be heard.
Many of the people I work with have almost perfected putting on a brave face. They might look like they’re holding it together on the outside, but underneath there’s exhaustion, self-doubt, and a brain that never shuts up. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. And you don’t have to keep pretending you’re fine.
I'm trained in person-centred counselling and clinical hypnotherapy, and I often bring in tools from both to suit what you need. I’m particularly good at working with anxiety, trauma, and the long-term effects of being emotionally neglected, dismissed, or let down. I have been known to work well with people who hate the idea of therapy but know they probably need it.
My aim is to avoid being stiff or clinical. You'll get a therapist who is a real person, with warmth, honesty, and the occasional bit of humour or well-timed profanity if that’s your thing. The work we do together can be heavy, which isn't always easy, but it can also feel like a relief to finally untangle it all and start to get to you yourself again.
My first session
During our first session, we'll go over what you'd like to get out of therapy, and how best I can help with that. We'll talk about boundaries, session frequency, cost, and what you can expect from me during the course of our work together. You'll have the opportunity to ask any questions you might have, and decide whether you feel I'd be a good fit for you.
