About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified and experienced integrative counsellor, offering online therapy for adults across the UK. My practice is grounded in warmth, acceptance, and the belief that meaningful change happens when we feel truly seen and heard. I work with a wide range of emotional difficulties including I offer an extended 90-minute first consultation at a rate of £75. This session allows us to explore in depth what has brought you to therapy and what you are hoping to gain from it. It gives you a chance to share your story in a safe and unrushed space, and to ask any questions you might have about how I work. I see this initial meeting as a foundation — not only to assess your needs but also to help both of us decide whether we would work well together.

During the first session, we’ll look at what’s going on for you now, as well as any important background or life events that may be shaping how you feel. If you're coming with concerns around food, eating, or body image, we may gently explore your history with eating, emotional regulation, and any relevant health support you already have in place. We’ll also talk through practicalities such as confidentiality, session structure, and how therapy might support your goals.eating disorders. I am a registered member of the Íø±¬ÃÅ and an accredited member of the NCPS, holding a CPCAB Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. I also hold a Master Practitioner Award from the NCFED

As an integrative counsellor, I draw on person-centred, psychodynamic, TA ,CBTe and mindfulness-based approaches. This means I adapt the way I work to meet your individual needs, rather than using a one-size-fits-all model. I aim to offer a confidential, non-judgemental space where you can explore what’s going on beneath the surface, and begin to build deeper self-awareness, resilience and self-compassion at your own pace.

Practice description

In my counselling practice, I aim to create a warm and collaborative environment where you feel safe to explore difficult emotions, make sense of patterns, and reconnect with your strengths. Whether you're struggling with overwhelming anxiety, grief, relationship problems, or difficulties around food and body image, or if you have diagnosed eating disorder, I will meet you with empathy and care. I work online, offering flexibility and accessibility, while maintaining the same depth of connection and confidentiality as in-person therapy.

I hold the Master Practitioner qualification in Eating Disorders and Obesity from the National Centre for Eating Disorders (NCFED), one of the UK’s most comprehensive specialist trainings. I work with clients experiencing anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, emotional eating, ARFID and body image concerns, combining specialist knowledge with compassion and psychological depth.

You can expect a thoughtful, respectful approach tailored to you — grounded in evidence-based techniques but always guided by your pace and what feels right for you.

About me and my therapy practice

Hello my name is Helen. I am an integrative counsellor providing a safe and confidential space for you to be heard in a warm, understanding, non-judgemental and down to earth way. In order to assist you in developing a deeper awareness of who you are and resolving your problems, I will support you as you explore the less evident elements of your mind that you might not be consciously aware of.

A good therapeutic relationship is fundamental in this process (research shows that this is the most important part of therapy) so it is vital that we are a good fit. I will listen, reflect, sometimes challenge and most importantly be alongside you as a supportive and understanding companion as you go through this journey of self-discovery which can be rewarding, liberating and satisfying but can also sometimes be painful, difficult and overwhelming. We will be on the path together to effect the change you seek.

I have been volunteering as a counsellor (bereavement supporter and supervisor) for both a national Bereavement charity (for several years) and also as a counsellor for a local Eating Disorders charity.

My background is in Education and I have had a long and varied career as a modern languages teacher.

Practice description

As an integrative counsellor, I believe there is not just one therapeutic approach which can help a client in all situations. Every person is unique and what works for one may not work for another. I see each client as an individual with their unique set of circumstances and experiences and I use elements of different approaches to help them explore their emotions, problems and issues. I offer an honest, transparent and non-judgemental approach by accepting and valuing my clients.

I underpin my work with person-centred therapy which focuses on my client to help them reach their full potential and I may bring in elements of psychodynamic therapy enabling me to focus on awareness, and the subconscious, just below the surface of awareness to help my clients understand themselves on a deeper level so they can explore how emotions and deep-rooted experiences impact their behaviour and feelings so they can then grow more as a person.

I may use body process and focus on what is really happening for my clients in the here and now. I also use mindfulness and grounding techniques where appropriate.

I may use elements of CBT to examine a client’s thoughts, feelings and behaviours and help them find ways to change and eliminate unhelpful behaviours using practical strategies and tools.

My first session

Our first session will be your opportunity to explore in depth what has brought you to counselling and will provide me with a better understanding of your needs. Together we will complete an assessment of what has brought you to therapy .In order to feel whole again we have to reconnect with the neglected parts of ourselves and in the therapeutic process is where this happens. Together we can uncover you inner resources; you already have everything you need within you and will decide jointly how our future sessions will take shape.
