About me and my therapy practice
Feelings of not being enough, worrying about getting told off or making mistakes, paralysed by a strive for perfection, bullied by a harsh inner voice. Is life all about the doing and not so much the being?
Or tragedy, illness or difficulty can send shockwaves through your life leaving you wondering how you will cope and navigate this new landscape that you didn’t want or ask for.
Whether you’re navigating relationship struggles, difficult experiences or a persistent sense of ‘not enough’, our counselling sessions are a space to slow down and get curious about what is happening beneath the surface. Through ongoing conversations, we can explore patterns, pain and possibilities so you can build a deeper, more compassionate relationship with yourself and others.
As a person-centred counsellor, I’m here to be a mirror to your experiences, sending what I hear and see back to you, so that you can really hear, feel and experience yourself. It’s not my job to diagnose you or tell you what to do with your life but it is my job to make you feel welcome, accepted (however you show up) and understood so that you feel comfortable enough to open up and talk to me.
Practice description
I’m a warm, open person who has navigated changing family relationships, making sense of the impact of my childhood on me, and my own experience of anxiety and depression. I’ve had a varied career, working in marketing in financial services and the public sector before living abroad and working as an English teacher. I re-trained in counselling while working in a primary school supporting children with their academic and emotional needs.
If you come to see me, you will always be at the centre of our time together. I’ll treat you with respect and hope that through our work together, you’ll move closer to the person you are and want to be.
It’s a weird process to choose and contact a counsellor – how do you know who’s going to work for you? There’s no substitute for your own experience and gut feeling, so the first step is to give it a go. If it doesn’t ‘feel’ right then we can talk about it, and it’s your choice whether to continue. I offer a free online or phone session of 20 minutes to help you decide if you’d like to start sessions together.
