About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to Nadia AL-Alrawi and my Gentle Minds Counselling.
Life can present its fair share of challenges, and seeking support is a courageous step towards a happier, healthier, and more fulfilling life.
My mission is to provide a safe and nurturing space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences without judgment. I believe in the power of counselling to foster self-discovery, personal growth, and resilience.
I am a dedicated and compassionate person-centred counsellor, who is passionate about helping individuals like you to overcome obstacles, manage stress and anxiety, and achieve a greater sense of well-being.
I work for Macmillan cancer support centre and have a diverse background and specialties in working with cancer patients, survivors, and their family members. I can help you to process your journey, find a way to live in the here and now, and reach peace and acceptance.
If you have lost a loved one, and are grieving, I can offer and provide a safe space to talk about your beloved one, to acknowledge your pain and loss, and try to find a way of moving forward, rather than moving on.
I have worked with clients who had lost themselves, their self confidence and esteem , lost their identity and passion in life because of, for example, being in a long-term abusive relationship, or the stress and lack of support following the arrival of a new baby and trying to adjust to the new situation. I can help you navigate your inner self and needs, rediscover your identity and passion in life.
I am fluent in English and Arabic, and offer counselling in both languages.

About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to Gentle Minds Counselling — I’m Nadia Al-Alrawi.
I understand that life can bring many challenges, and reaching out for support is a courageous step toward a happier, healthier, and more fulfilling life.
As a dedicated and compassionate person-centred counsellor, I am passionate about helping individuals and couples overcome difficulties, manage stress and anxiety, and develop a greater sense of emotional well-being. My approach is grounded in empathy, respect, and understanding, offering a safe and nurturing space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences without fear of judgment.
I believe in the power of counselling to promote self-discovery, personal growth, and resilience. Through our work together, my aim is to support you in finding clarity, healing, and a renewed sense of balance in your life.
I worked with Macmillan Cancer Support, where I have extensive experience supporting cancer patients, survivors, and their families. Together, we can process your journey, learn to live in the present, and find peace and acceptance — embracing life as it unfolds today.
I also offer counselling for bereavement and loss. If you are grieving the loss of a loved one, I provide a compassionate and understanding space where you can honour their memory, express your feelings, and find a way to move forward, rather than moving on.
I provide relationship and couples counselling for partners who want to improve communication, rebuild trust, resolve conflict, or reconnect emotionally. In a supportive, neutral environment I help each partner express their needs, be heard, and work together to create healthier patterns and a stronger emotional connection.
My experience also includes working with individuals struggling with low self-esteem, loss of identity, or emotional distress — often following long-term abusive relationships, major life changes, or the challenges that come with parenthood.
Practice description
I believe that effective counselling is built on trust, empathy, and collaboration. My approach is primarily person-centred, which means that I value you as an individual and place your experiences, feelings, and goals at the heart of our work together. Each session is tailored to your unique circumstances, drawing on different therapeutic models to ensure you receive the support that best suits your needs.
Whatever brings you to counselling, I am here to support you with warmth, respect, and understanding. Together, we can work towards healing, resilience, and a renewed sense of well-being.
I support individuals and couples facing a wide range of challenges, including:
· Anxiety, low mood, and depression.
· Living with and processing cancer and the life changes it brings.
· Grief and bereavement, including the loss of a loved one to suicide.
· Relationship and couples’ issues.
· Low self-esteem and loss of identity.
· Postnatal depression and the adjustment to parenthood.
· Trauma and domestic abuse
I also support those seeking personal growth and self-development, helping you to build resilience, enhance self-awareness, and create meaningful and lasting change in your life.
Whatever your situation, I am committed to providing a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your inner world, find clarity, and move forward with confidence and self-compassion.
I am here to help you rediscover your sense of self, your needs, and your passion for life.
