About me and my therapy practice

Are you feeling overwhelmed with all the demands life is throwing at you? Do you wake up feeling anxious or struggle to sleep with so much going on in your head? Maybe you're going through some difficult changes in your life and feel depressed about it. Perhaps now's the time to get a few things off your chest, out of your head and talk about it.

Whether you’re a young person or an adult having someone to talk to in a confidential and understanding way might be the support you need. I am a friendly experienced therapist working in person, online or over the phone. If you feel this is what you need right now I will be alongside you in order for you to regain control of your life by:

Talking about your issues without fear of being judged or criticised

Build more confidence in the choices you make and develop your own coping strategies that work for you

Help you to set your own boundaries so you have more space to live the way you want to

Find ways to tune into your mind and body to care for yourself, rather than put other peoples' needs first.

From my own personal experiences of feeling overwhelmed and feeling lost in life I understand the need to have someone to talk things through with, who's not involved directly, to make sense of any problems, confidentially. Someone who can support you to see the world through your eyes and start living more in the present rather than feel overwhelmed all the time.

We could do this by:  

Looking at what's going on for you right now, changing unhelpful behaviours, making choices, life events such as loss and bereavement. 

This could include looking into your past to see what impact your childhood may have had on the way you feel now, for example the impact of abuse/ bullying or not feeling you 'fit in' with society.

Or we could explore your life purpose, where you want to be, making choices and your own existence. 

All my work is Trauma informed and keep up to date with the latest development in this field - how trauma affects the body and mind

Practice description

I work face to face, online and via telephone from Biggleswade.

My first session

I offer a free, no obligation 20 minute telephone call to find out more about my counselling and for you to ask any questions and to get to know each other.  I will then email/ give you a counselling contract to read and for you to think about whether counselling is for you at this time.  There is no pressure, take time to think about whether you want to go ahead with it.

In our initial 50 minute session we spend some time talking about our counselling agreement - we discuss confidentiality, how many sessions you may want, what you should/shouldn't expect from a counsellor,  fees and cancellations and what you hope to gain from counselling.  Then it's up to you if you feel it would benefit you at this time- it's your choice.

Once you make that decision the rest of the sessions will be about whatever you want to talk about.
