About me and my therapy practice

I’m Aminata, a qualified psychotherapist and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Íø±¬ÃÅ). I provide therapy for adults, adolescents, and children, offering a safe and confidential space to explore emotional and psychological challenges.

My therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and person-centred methods. This allows me to tailor sessions to each client’s individual needs, promoting resilience, emotional regulation, and personal growth.

I work with a wide range of presenting issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement, low self-esteem, stress, and relationship difficulties. My practice is trauma-informed and culturally sensitive, recognising the importance of identity, environment, and lived experience in shaping emotional wellbeing.

Practice description

I offer a safe, compassionate, and collaborative space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences without judgment. My integrated approach allows sessions to be tailored to your unique needs and goals.

Together, we’ll explore how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours connect, helping you break unhelpful patterns and develop practical coping tools for everyday life.

My practice is trauma-informed and culturally sensitive, and I have extensive experience supporting adults, adolescents, and young people with issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement, and relationship difficulties.

Sessions are available online or by phone, with daytime and evening availability and a half-price first session to help you decide if I’m the right fit for you.

My first session

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and see whether we feel comfortable working together. I offer this initial session at half my usual rate, as I understand that finding the right therapist is an important personal decision.

During our first meeting, we’ll talk about what has brought you to therapy, what you hope to gain, and how I might best support you. I’ll explain how sessions are structured and introduce you to the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), alongside other approaches I integrate, such as Solution-Focused and person-centred techniques.

This session also includes a gentle assessment to help us identify your current concerns, strengths, and goals for therapy. It’s not a test; instead, it’s a collaborative conversation that allows me to tailor the sessions to your individual needs.

We’ll also discuss practicalities such as confidentiality, safeguarding, and session frequency. You’re welcome to ask questions or share any preferences about how you like to work. There’s no obligation to continue after this first session; it’s primarily about giving you a sense of what therapy with me feels like and ensuring you feel comfortable and supported.

If you decide to continue, we’ll agree on a plan that feels manageable and meaningful for you. Sessions are available online or by phone, with flexible daytime and evening appointments to suit your schedule.
