About me and my therapy practice
Do you feel overwhelmed, like you're carrying more than you can handle?
Have you lost touch with yourself, feeling numb or disconnected?
Do joy and happiness feel like distant memories?
I’m here to offer you a pause. A space to breathe, to be heard, and to be truly seen—without judgment.
At 6'2", some describe me as a gentle giant, but more than that, I offer a grounded and secure space where we can meet, explore what’s brought you here, and begin to untangle what’s weighing you down.
Counselling isn’t about fixing you—because you are not broken. It’s about finding acceptance, making sense of your struggles, and moving forward in a way that feels right for you. Wherever you are on your journey, I hope our time together will help you reconnect with yourself and rediscover the strength that’s already within you.
Practice description
With over 20 years of experience in the healthcare and chronic pain sector, I’ve spent the last five years specializing in trauma and somatic therapy, deepening my understanding of how we experience and process life’s challenges—emotionally, physically, and mentally. My training includes Integrative Counselling, Trauma-Informed Approaches, Somatic Therapy, and work with relationships, anger, and rage. I’ve supported individuals dealing with trauma, anxiety, chronic illnesses like POTS, EDS, Fibromyalgia, and FND, as well as those managing autism and young adulthood.
A core aspect of my practice is Internal Family Systems (IFS), which helps us understand the different parts of ourselves that can sometimes act in ways we don’t fully understand or like. These parts—often formed in response to past experiences—can show up as reactions, behaviors, or emotions that don’t seem to fit the current situation. IFS allows us to explore these parts and bring them into balance, helping us break free from patterns of behavior that no longer serve us.
I approach every client with the belief that their story is unique, meeting them with empathy and respect for where they are. My work combines professional training with real-world experience, with a strong focus on trauma-informed care. I understand that trauma—whether emotional or physical—can leave lasting imprints, often stored in the body, influencing both mental and physical health. Through somatic therapy, I help release stored tension, encouraging clients to reconnect with their bodies and emotions in ways that promote deep, lasting healing.
Healing is a journey that doesn’t have to be walked alone. Whether you’re facing trauma, chronic illness, emotional patterns, or life transitions, I’m here to walk beside you. Together, we’ll uncover what’s been holding you back and support you in moving toward understanding, self-compassion, and well-being.
My first session
Your first session can be whatever feels most comfortable for you. We can jump straight in, or if you’d prefer, we can have a relaxed 20-minute ‘Getting to Know You’ chat. This gives you the chance to ask any questions you might have, and for us to see if we’re a good fit to work together. Just let me know when you book if you'd like to choose this option!

About me and my therapy practice
Hello and a warm welcome. I’m Richard, an independent counsellor, MÍø±¬ÃÅ member, and currently a trainee supervisor. My supervision style is integrative and trauma-informed—I draw from person-centred work, use the 7-eyed supervision model and the Integrated Developmental Model (IDM) when helpful, and always seek to place safety, kindness, and curiosity at the heart of our work together.
My Practice Approach
• Integrative Supervision: Rooted in relationship, with flexible use of a broad range of models to suit your needs—including the 7-eyed model and IDM.
• Trauma-Informed: Committed to safety, strong boundaries, and sensitive awareness of trauma impacts for you and your clients.
• Reflective Partnership: This is your space—to think out loud, explore doubts or learning edges, and celebrate your growth.
