About me and my therapy practice

Life can present all of us with the unexpected. I am here to help you when life feels too much.

If you find yourself here, it may be because life is feeling a struggle, and something unexpected has left you feeling stuck and confused about how to move forwards in a way that feels meaningful and purposeful. Perhaps recent events have left you feeling a shadow of your former self. Perhaps you are feeling anxious, depressed, alone, lost, angry or confused  or have experienced a loss or traumatic life event. Perhaps you find yourself coping with relationships that are difficult and you feel unsure of what to do. I am here to support you, so that you can find your way back to living the life you want to live.

While it can be hard to seek help and trust others, counselling can offer you a safe and confidential space to stop and reflect. The importance of this in our busy lives, cannot be underestimated, giving you the opportunity to explore those aspects of your life and relationships that are confusing, painful and difficult – at your own pace.  

Practice description

I work with adults and young people aged 16 and above.

I have worked in two 6th form colleges offering support to young people aged 16 and 18 years.

I have worked with a wide range of issues in my private practice, but areas of specialism include Adoption, Bereavement, Anxiety,  Depression, Trauma and relationships difficulties.

The way I work is varied.  We are all different and what may work for you, may not work for someone else.  I use a tailored collaborative approach, meaning I will explore what you need from your sessions and together we can explore what will best meet your needs.  It is your space and I hope to ensure that I work in a way that best supports you.  The tools I use are varied, but I draw from a Humanistic Counselling approach as well as Transactional Analysis. 

I use creative methods to aid communication and draw from aspects of CBT, ACT, Mindfulness and Meditation approaches to help you better understand your relationship with yourself and how unconscious rules and restrictive beliefs might be limiting us from living the lives we want to live.

While there are a number of different counselling methods, the most important ingredient to healing and change is our relationship. It is always my intention and hope that we can create a trusting relationship where you feel safe and understood.

My first session

I offer a free no obligation, 30 minute introductory session online or in person. I consider this important because I feel it gives you a chance to see if I am someone you want to work with.   My hope is that it will offer you some idea as to how I work as well and it gives you a chance to share a little about what you are struggling with and what you hope to gain through counselling.
