About me and my therapy practice

My name is Brigitte, though many of my clients know me as Bee. I’m a Person-Centred Counsellor working in the Rutland area.

My work is grounded in the Person-Centred approach, which means I don’t diagnose, direct, or give advice — instead, I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, accepted, and supported to explore what’s going on for you. I believe that, given the right conditions, we all have the capacity to grow, heal, and move towards the life we want.

In sessions, I follow your lead. Some clients come with a clear goal or issue in mind, while others just know something doesn’t feel right and want time to make sense of things. Both are completely welcome. Depending on your preferences, we may work mostly through talking, but I also sometimes incorporate gentle creative tools, drawing, or grounding techniques when they feel helpful.

I work with a wide range of concerns and tailor each session to your pace and needs. My style is calm, down-to-earth, and emotionally attuned. If you’re curious about starting therapy, we can arrange an initial consultation to see how it feels to work together.

Practice description

In my practice, I offer a calm, confidential space where you can explore what’s going on for you—without judgement, pressure, or the need to have all the answers. My approach is Person-Centred, which means I work alongside you, rather than directing or diagnosing. I trust that, given the right conditions, you’ll find the insight and resilience you need to move forward.

I am a trauma-informed practitioner and work sensitively with the impact of past experiences, helping clients process overwhelm, anxiety, low mood, or a deep sense of stuckness. I also have experience working with children and young people, and adapt my approach to meet them in a way that feels safe, supportive, and appropriately paced.

Sessions are 50 minutes long and typically take place weekly, though I’m happy to discuss what works best for you. I offer both short-term and open-ended therapy, depending on your needs.

Clients often come to me during times of transition, self-doubt, or emotional exhaustion. Some arrive with a clear focus; others simply need space to think and feel. Both are welcome. We might talk, reflect, or use creative tools—whatever feels most helpful to you.

From November 2025, clients will also have the optional opportunity to work with Goose, my Golden Retriever, who is currently in training to join me in sessions as a therapy dog. He brings a gentle, grounding presence and can be particularly helpful for clients who find comfort in animal companionship.

Whether you're facing a particular challenge or seeking greater self-understanding, you're invited to bring your full self to the work. If you're unsure about starting, we can book an initial consultation to see how it feels.

My first session

I offer a free initial exploratory phone call to discuss what you're looking for in therapy and what you hope to gain from it. This is an informal conversation and typically lasts between 10 and 30 minutes, depending on your needs. There’s no fee for this call, and no pressure to commit.

If it feels like we might be a good fit, we can then arrange a full 50-minute introductory session. This is a regular therapeutic session, charged at my standard rate of £60, and gives you the opportunity to experience how I work and whether the space and approach feel comfortable and supportive for you.
