About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I am Kangli, a qualified, experienced, and registered Gestalt Counsellor/Psychotherapist, and a Couple and Relationship Counsellor. I work with individuals (11+) and couples, offering in-person, online, and telephone counselling.

My core approach is Gestalt therapy - a dynamic, holistic method that supports greater awareness of how you think, feel, and relate to others in the present moment. This awareness can help uncover patterns, deepen self-understanding, and create meaningful change. I also integrate CBT and Person-Centred Therapy to tailor sessions to your unique needs and goals.

Whether you're seeking short-term support or long-term exploration, I offer a warm, safe, and non-judgmental space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered.

I specialise in working with:

  • Individuals (11+) experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement, identity issues, low self-esteem, gender, sexuality, and life transitions
  • Couples looking to improve communication, navigate conflict or life transitions, rebuild trust, or deepen emotional intimacy
  • Clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, drawing on deep experience supporting the overseas Chinese and East Asian communities.
  • Neurodivergent individuals, including those with ADHD, autism, or sensory processing differences
  • People living with long-term health conditions, such as chronic illness, pain, or disability

As a bilingual therapist (English & Mandarin), I offer culturally sensitive support and understand the emotional impact of cultural transitions, identity struggles, and intergenerational dynamics. My practice is inclusive and affirming of all identities.

In addition to counselling, I offer life coaching for those seeking personal growth, clarity, or spiritual alignment.

Practice description

My therapy room is located in a quiet area of Eastleigh, with parking available. I offer in-person, online, and telephone counselling, available for both short-term and long-term therapy.

For both individuals and couples, I provide a supportive and collaborative space where you can explore challenges and work toward meaningful change. In couple therapy, I help partners improve communication, rebuild trust, and deepen emotional and physical intimacy. My approach supports both individuals in feeling heard and understood, while fostering awareness of relational patterns and new ways of connecting.

Alongside my work with individuals and couples, I have a particular interest in supporting clients from diverse cultural backgrounds. As a bilingual therapist, I offer counselling in both English and Mandarin. Having lived across different countries and cultures, I understand the emotional impact of cultural transitions, identity struggles, and intergenerational dynamics. I offer a space to explore these experiences with sensitivity and respect - whether you're navigating feelings of otherness, adapting to change, or seeking a stronger sense of belonging.

The name Echo Forest Therapy reflects my belief in the healing power of self-discovery. Like a forest, the mind can feel vast and complex - but also full of beauty, insight, and peace. I offer a safe space to explore your inner world, listen to what echoes within, and find your way forward.

My first session

Depending on availability, I offer a free, no-obligation 20-minute telephone consultation. This is a chance to discuss your needs, ask questions, and decide whether I’m the right counsellor for you.

If we choose to work together, the first session will include an initial assessment where we explore your concerns, background, and therapy goals. Standard sessions are 50 minutes for individuals and 60 minutes for couples. I typically recommend weekly or fortnightly sessions, though I can offer flexible arrangements based on your needs. Sessions can be held in person, online, or by phone.
