About me and my therapy practice

"The future is not a result of choices among alternative paths offered by the present, but a place that is created--created first in the mind and will, created next in activity. The future is not some place we are going to, but one we are creating. The paths are not to be found, but made, and the activity of making them, changes both the maker and the destination." --John Schaar

I have worked in mental health for 15 years, and have been awarded Fellowships for my contributions to the field from both The Wellcome Trust and the Churchill Fellowship.

I am active as a mental health researcher, with an especial interest in post-partum maternal mental health, with recent research published in the British Medical Journal.

I completed my Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotherapy at Gestalt Centre Wales, and my training in couples psychotherapy at The Centre for Relational Couples Therapy.

Becoming a therapist was very much informed by my own experience of the effects of adverse childhood experience on my own life, and recovery from serious psychiatric illness in my early twenties.

My clients and I work together to build a relationship engendered by honesty, acceptance and trust. And in the safety of that relationship, the work gets done.

Through deep listening, asking questions and sharing my responses and observations, I help clients to uncover and understand emotional and behavioural patterns at work in their lives, and support them to discover and develop alternative approaches to life and relationships, that serve them better.

I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Íø±¬ÃÅ), and undergo regular clinical supervision and training.
