About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I鈥檓 Ursula. I鈥檓 a person-centred experiential counsellor, and I also draw on powerful, practical coaching techniques (inspired by NLP) and creative approaches in my work. I specialise in helping people with anxiety, abuse, relationships, trauma, and loss 鈥 particularly those who want to feel calmer, more connected, and more at ease in themselves.
Part of why I do this work is because I know what it feels like to struggle. Growing up, I experienced trauma, and as a teenager I lived with crippling anxiety that made life feel overwhelming. I also lost my parents fairly early in adult hood鈥 experiences of grief that deeply shaped my understanding of loss. Over the years, I鈥檝e done the work to heal, and I鈥檝e found friendships and relationships have become easier and lighter. That journey has given me both empathy and practical insight 鈥 so when clients come to me feeling stuck, I genuinely understand what it鈥檚 like to want things to feel different.
I鈥檓 not your 鈥渢ypical therapist.鈥 I鈥檓 not overly polished, clinical, or distant 鈥 and I don鈥檛 sit in silent judgement. Clients often say it feels like a relief to just 鈥渂e real鈥 in sessions. You don鈥檛 have to censor your words, tidy up your feelings, or hold back your humour. If you need to rant, cry, or laugh, it鈥檚 all welcome here (and yes, I may occasionally swear too). Above all, I value offering a space that is truly free of judgement.
I also work with Jungian shadow elements 鈥 the parts of ourselves we often push aside or avoid. Sometimes, the very things we hide can hold the keys to growth. As Jung said, 鈥淥ne does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.鈥
The heart of my approach is this: you set the pace. You won鈥檛 be pushed into anything you鈥檙e not ready for, but I鈥檒l walk alongside you with compassion, honesty, and encouragement, with the occasional gentle challenge.
Practice description
My practice is built around the idea that counselling doesn鈥檛 have to feel stiff, clinical, or intimidating. It can be a space where you show up exactly as you are 鈥 messy, uncertain, funny, tearful, or all of the above. My clients often say it feels more like 鈥渢alking to someone who gets it.鈥
Here鈥檚 how I work:
鈥 Person-centred counselling is at the core, which means you鈥檒l always be met with empathy, compassion, and honesty.
鈥 Practical coaching tools (inspired by NLP) give you strategies to shift unhelpful thoughts, beliefs, or habits that keep you stuck.
鈥 Creative approaches like imagery, writing, or simple exercises can help when words alone don鈥檛 quite capture what you鈥檙e feeling.
鈥 Shadow work (Jungian elements) supports you in exploring the parts of yourself you may have hidden or rejected, but which often hold power, wisdom, and healing.
鈥 Online sessions mean you can talk from the comfort of your own home, at a pace and place that works for you.
I specialise in supporting people with anxiety, trauma, abuse and loss. Having lived with crippling anxiety myself as a teenager, I know how overwhelming and distressing it can feel. That personal experience 鈥 combined with professional training 鈥 means I offer both deep empathy and practical strategies for finding calm and clarity.
I also have a particular passion for helping people improve their relationships. That might mean:
鈥 Building healthier boundaries.
鈥 Untangling repeating patterns.
鈥 Easing social anxiety.
鈥 Rebuilding trust in yourself or others.
鈥 Navigating life transitions
Working with me isn鈥檛 about a quick fix or a list of 鈥渟houlds.鈥 It鈥檚 about creating a safe, judgement-free space where you can discover what matters to you and explore new ways of thinking, feeling, and connecting.
If you鈥檙e looking for a therapist who is warm, real, and compassionate (and definitely not judgemental), I鈥檇 love to hear from you.
My first session
I offer a free 30-minute introductory call. Think of it as a no-pressure space to see if we鈥檙e the right fit. During this call, I鈥檒l ask a few questions to get a sense of your story and where you鈥檙e at right now. It鈥檚 not therapy yet, but it is the beginning of the process 鈥 a chance for me to hear what matters most to you and for you to get a feel for how I work.
What makes this different from a standard 鈥渋ntake鈥 is that this is not all tick-boxes or a questionnaire. I also listen, reflect, and help you start naming what you want from therapy. That clarity alone can sometimes feel like a weight off. Clients often leave this first chat saying, 鈥淚 already feel lighter.鈥
Some clients find it useful if I suggest simple tools from the start 鈥 maybe a journaling prompt, reflection exercise, or small shift they can try out between sessions. Others simply use this time to talk through what鈥檚 been weighing on them. Either way, it鈥檚 your space, your pace.
Why free? Because choosing a therapist is a big decision. You deserve the chance to meet me, ask questions, and feel out the vibe before committing financially. And if we鈥檙e not the right fit, I鈥檒l be honest and 鈥 if useful 鈥 point you towards other resources.
So, if you鈥檙e ready to take the first step, book the call. It costs nothing but could start shifting everything.
