About me and my therapy practice
I am a chartered counselling psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I am also a registered member (MÍø±¬ÃÅ) with the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (Íø±¬ÃÅ). I currently work within the NHS and in private practice.
My aim within our therapy sessions is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can feel comfortable to share and explore any difficulties you may be experiencing. My therapeutic approach is collaborative and trauma-informed and focuses on the specific areas you are seeking support with. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for effective therapy and so I also focus on developing our therapeutic relationship to support you to gain the most from therapy.
My broad training means I can draw upon a wide range of therapeutic approaches to support you to reflect on relevant past experiences, gain understanding and insight, develop helpful coping strategies and work towards your specific therapeutic goals. For example, I draw upon relational, humanistic, psychodynamic, systemic and/or third-wave cognitive behavioural therapeutic approaches. Together we can explore what works best for you based on your specific needs and goals.
A significant proportion of my experience has included working with people with issues relating to the impact of complex trauma and PTSD including childhood emotional, physical and sexual abuse and domestic and sexual violence. I also have experience working with anxiety, depression, panic, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, medical trauma and long-term health conditions. I also work with people to explore issues relating to gender, racial and sexual identity.
Practice description
I offer a free initial 15-minute telephone consultation prior to your first booking.
Session are held via an encrypted video platform.
I offer a concessionary rates for those who might struggle to access psychotherapy due to financial constraints.
My first session
Your first session will usually be a 50-minute consultation session. This means that I will provide a brief introduction to some important information about our therapeutic agreement including explaining issues around confidentiality, legal obligations and what you might expect from the therapeutic process. I will also ask you for information about what has brought you to therapy and any relevant personal history you may wish to share. You will of course have the opportunity to discuss any current difficulties you may be experiencing and your goals for therapy and I will also invite you to ask any questions you may have about myself, my therapeutic practice and the therapeutic process. We can then use this information to decide together on a possible initial therapeutic plan that might best support you with your goals.
