About me and my therapy practice

Hi, are you feeling overwhelmed or stuck? Maybe you have been putting off dealing with something for months or even years and now, for whatever reason, you have decided to make a change.

I offer a warm, non-judgemental space to work on whatever it is that is troubling you.

However big or small your problems may seem, you deserve to be heard, and talking to somebody who really knows how to listen could be the first step to making important and lasting change in your life.

I am a Íø±¬ÃÅ accredited counsellor and psychotherapist (MÍø±¬ÃÅ) with specific training in humanistic counselling, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing). I have worked as a therapist within the NHS and the mental health charity Mind.

Some of the issues that I regularly work with include (but are not limited to):

  • Feeling anxious
  • Depression
  • Addictions (both substance and behavioural)
  • Self-esteem and self-compassion
  • Phobias and OCD
  • Relationship issues
  • ADHD

I am 12-step literate and also maintain a daily mindfulness practice that I can use as part of our work if it is an area that you are interested in.

If you're considering therapy, or if you have any questions, please contact me and I'll be happy to discuss them with you prior to your first appointment.

Practice description

I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where all parts of you are welcome, especially that parts that you feel least comfortable with.

I work one-to-one with adults (18+) and provide an inclusive and affirming space for everyone, regardless of race, gender, sexuality or nationality. Neurodivergent clients are also warmly welcome.

When we work together, we will start with what is causing you the most difficulty in your life and identify the things that are keeping that distressing situation going. We will then work together on strategies to remove those blocks and get you back on the path to growth and recovery.

In some instances, I may suggest specific techniques or tools, while in other cases it may be more helpful to provide a space where you feel free to speak and explore your feelings in your own time. Therapy is always a collaboration and I will help you develop the confidence to be an equal partner in our work.

I will always treat you with respect and acceptance, regardless of what you bring to our work.

Some feedback I have received from past clients is that they now feel:

  • Less anxious and more able to live alongside anxiety;
  • Better equiped to identify goals and work towards them;
  • More able to express themselves;
  • Able to form deeper and more meaningul relationships with themselves and others;
  • More confident in making changes when needed;
  • Less stuck in repetative, damaging patterns of behaviour;
  • Kinder and more compassionate towards themselves
  • More hopeful about the future.

I believe that these things are possible for you too.

My first session

Our first session will be a free 20-minute phone call or Zoom chat so you can get a sense of whether it feels like the right fit for you.

Your first time in therapy can seem a little daunting, (it certainly was for me). So I always make sure to keep things light and relaxed.

I might ask a little bit about why you decided to reach out and how you would like your life to look. You might even find that you aren't sure how to answer these questions at first and that is absolutely fine, it just gives us somewhere to start

You will always be in control of which bits of your story you are ready to talk about. By the end of our first meeting, it is my hope that you will feel excited and optimistic about our work. However, if the relationship doesn't feel quite right then I will be happy to help with recommendations, should you request them.
