About me and my therapy practice

Are you struggling to make sense of a difficult situation or relationship, are you feeling anxious or depressed. Are you supporting someone with dementia or a recent health condition diagnosis, or are you feeling things are not quite right. 

I offer psychotherapy and counselling which can help you if you are struggling with any issues that you are dealing with now or have experienced in the past. 

I will give you a safe non-judgemental space, to explore challenging experiences as a way of enable you to understand yourself better, and together we can work toward supporting and empowering you to make changes to improve your wellbeing.

People come to therapy for lots of different reasons, and I am aware often taking the first step is difficult and can often feel scary.

Please call me for an initial 15 minute telephone consultation and we can arrange a further meeting if you feel I am the right person for you.

I offer short, medium or long term therapy.

I work mainly online (Zoom predominately) and offer weekly sessions of 50 mins.

My first session

I offer an initial call (15 mins) to talk about what you are looking for. 

We would then do a 50 minute assessment session (£67) (although this sometimes takes a little longer) where I would get to know you and your therapy needs, and for you to decide if we can work together and this would all be done at your pace.

About me and my therapy practice

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s completely normal to feel unsure about what to expect. My aim is to make the process feel as comfortable and supportive as possible.

I aim to offer a warm, welcoming space where you can talk openly and be truly heard without judgement. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or low, we can work together to make sense of what’s going on for you and find a way forward.

I mainly work with adults online, hopefully making it more accessible for you. I specialise in helping people with anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, low self-esteem, and life transitions — including the emotional challenges that can come with menopause and peri-menopause.

My approach is rooted in Transactional Analysis (TA), which is a type of psychotherapy that helps you understand patterns in your thinking, behaviour, and relationships. It’s a gentle but powerful way to explore how past experiences may still be affecting your life today — and how things can start to change.

We’ll go at your pace and focus on what’s most important to you. Some weeks you might want to explore deep-rooted patterns; other times, you may simply need space to talk and be supported. Both are welcome.

Hi, I’m Fran Berger-North, a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor and registered member of both the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Íø±¬ÃÅ) and the UK Association for Transactional Analysis (UKATA). I also appear on the Professional Standards Authority register for Health and Social Care.

I have many years of experience supporting people through a range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, and significant life transitions. I have a particular interest in supporting women navigating the emotional and physical impact of menopause and peri-menopause.

My private practice is currently online-only, offering accessible and flexible sessions for clients across the UK. Online therapy can be just as effective as in-person work and often helps clients feel more comfortable and able to open up in familiar surroundings.

Whatever has brought you to therapy, you are welcome here. Whether you’re facing a specific issue or just feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected, I offer a supportive space where you can begin to understand yourself more deeply, develop greater self-compassion, and move toward a more fulfilling life.

My first session

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. You can share what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain from it. It’s also an opportunity for you to get a sense of how I work and whether you feel comfortable talking with me.

You may not be entirely sure what you're looking for and that’s completely okay, you may just have a sense that something isn’t quite right. We can begin wherever you are.

I’ll explain how I work, what you can expect from sessions, and answer any questions you may have. We’ll also talk through practical details like confidentiality, fees, and scheduling.

There’s no pressure to commit straight away. By the end of the session, we can decide together if it feels right to continue working together, and what that might look like. 

My aim is to create a safe, respectful space where you feel heard, understood, and supported.
