About me and my therapy practice
My Approach
I am a person-centred counsellor, which means I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth, change and healing when offered the right conditions. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.
While my foundations are rooted in person-centred therapy, I also draw on an integrative approach. This means that, alongside listening and reflection, I may bring in practical tools and strategies that can support your wellbeing. I often email resources to you in the form of worksheets. These can be adapted to suit your unique needs and can help you feel more empowered in your daily life.
Practice description
My aim is to create a therapeutic relationship where you feel understood, respected and supported.
I offer both short-term and long-term online/telephone counselling. Some clients prefer a focused approach to work on a specific issue, while others value ongoing support over a longer period of time. We will work together to decide what best supports you.
I have particular experience in working with:
• Anxiety and stress
• Low mood and depression
• Domestic violence and its impact
• Neurodivergence
• Chronic Pain illnesses
My training, professional experience and personal lived experience in these areas allow me to offer both understanding and practical support. I am especially passionate about supporting neurodivergent clients, recognising both the challenges and the strengths that come with seeing and experiencing the world differently.
I’m also very passionate about working with people who have experienced domestic abuse. I trained with a specialist charity and have worked with clients to gently rebuild their confidence, self-worth and sense of safety. My integrative approach allows me to meet each person where they are, helping them to reconnect with their strengths and begin to move forward and live a more positive, fulfilling and authentic lifestyle.
My first session
In our first meeting we read through our counselling agreement and personal information form. I always send these by email prior to our first session to be completed and signed. We then look at them together discussing confidentiality, the importance of trust and familiarise ourselves with each other. I can also answer any questions or concerns you may have.
We can then discuss your reasons for seeking counselling, your goals and your expectations.
