About me and my therapy practice
Hello and thank you for visiting my profile. My name is Lorraine and I am a qualified experienced counsellor registered with the Íø±¬ÃÅ. You may have found your way to this site because you are looking for some support- perhaps you are struggling with grief and loss; relationship difficulties; anxiety and stress or persistent low mood. Life can be tough and while we often mostly cope, sometimes we need some extra support - that is where a counsellor can help. I offer a calm space where you can work out what is going on for you. As a person-centred counsellor, I believe you are the expert in your life and know what is best for you even though at this moment you may have lost sight of that. My job is to help you rediscover your sense of self which may currently be buried under life’s noise. I can support you to do that at your pace, using evidence-based strategies and techniques where they may be helpful to you. If you would like more information about what I can offer and how I may be able to help please have a look at my website.
Practice description
As an experienced counsellor, who has supported people through many different challenges in life, I am able to respond flexibly to my clients' needs. My background includes working across the public sector (including schools and the prison service) and the wider community, supporting individuals struggling with anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties, and low mood. I have also worked in a bereavement service, helping clients cope with grief and loss, including those facing terminal illness.
As a school counsellor, I have supported children and young people experiencing school phobia, neurodiverse and neurotypical needs, and emotional difficulties. My earlier career as a teacher and senior leader for over 20 years gives me a strong understanding of the pressures faced by both young people and adults in education and work. I also have an enhanced DBS so you can be reassured that I am fully vetted for working with your child.
Having practised across the United Kingdom, I have been fortunate enough to work with individuals from a wide range of cultural/ethnic backgrounds and many walks of life. Such experiences have developed me into a more open practitioner and enable me to support people from a place of cultural humility.
