About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I鈥檓 Jamie, and I hold a BSc (Hons) in Therapeutic Counselling.

I would love to be part of your support system. Having someone alongside you on your healing journey can make all the difference 鈥 you are not alone, and you don鈥檛 have to suffer in silence. I am passionate about offering a calm, gentle, and patient presence for all my clients.

I deeply care about the well-being of everyone I work with. I have met people from all walks of life, and everyone is welcome 鈥 I want to hear your story. You deserve a space without judgment, where you can be truly seen and heard.

I draw on several theories of change to help you reach your goals. My priority is to build a working relationship grounded in safety and trust; we take all the time needed to establish that foundation. While we may explore deep emotions, counselling can also be an enlightening and even enjoyable experience.

As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I understand what it feels like to be 鈥渄ifferent from normal鈥 and work with clients empathetically and without judgment. I believe our differences are what make us unique and beautiful.

My own experiences have shown me the value of a safe, secure space to process traumatic events and overwhelming emotions. It is a privilege to help and support my clients on their journey.

I am particularly passionate about supporting individuals healing from childhood trauma, building self-confidence, and strengthening relationships with themselves and others. I work well with clients who aim to be kinder to themselves and are curious about developing healthier boundaries.

I am dedicated to supporting individuals from marginalised populations and those affected by loss. Through self-compassion and self-nurturing, I aim to help clients enhance self-worth and self-acceptance while experiencing less fear and anxiety around difficult emotions.

Practice description

How it works

I offer a 15-minute introduction via Microsoft Teams. During this session, we can discuss what brings you to counselling, ask each other questions, and see if we feel compatible. If you already feel confident about working with me, we can skip the introduction and move straight to discussing availability.

As an integrated therapist, I recognise that no single therapy approach works for everyone. I see each client as a unique individual, using aspects of several approaches to support exploration, understanding, and problem-solving.

At the core of my work is the person-centred approach, which emphasises empathy, understanding, and acceptance. I also draw on psychodynamic and transactional analysis theories, recognising how past experiences and patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving shape the present.

As your therapist, I aim to support you at every stage of your therapeutic journey. Together, we will develop solutions that work for you, guided by compassion, empathy, honesty, and a non-judgmental attitude. I believe you are the expert in your own life and deserve a safe space to discover your own answers.

First Session

Your first session will involve an assessment and a deeper exploration of what has brought you to counselling. You鈥檒l have the opportunity to ask questions, and we can begin to explore the goals you want to work towards in therapy.

By the end of this session, you will have a sense of what it would be like to work with me and whether we are a good match. You are under no obligation to continue if you decide not to. It鈥檚 important that you feel completely comfortable with your decision and confident that we are the right fit for you.

Final Word

Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, but it is also an act of courage and self-care. You don鈥檛 have to face your challenges alone, and seeking support is a powerful way to invest in your well-being.

I am here to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your feelings, gain insight, and work towards meaningful change. Together, we can navigate life鈥檚 challenges at a pace that feels right for you, helping you build confidence, resilience, and a stronger relationship with yourself.

Reach out today to start a conversation about how counselling could support you. Every journey begins with a single step, and I would be honoured to walk alongside you.
