About me and my therapy practice
Welcome, my name is Debbie, I qualified as a Person-Centred Counsellor & Psychotherapist in 2020 from Aberdeen University.
During the past five years, I have developed my practice to be more integrative. As a therapist, I work collaboratively and holistically to meet my client's needs. After all, you are the expert on you. I'm there to support and sit beside you as we navigate your story.
The core of my practice is grounded in empathy, genuineness, non-judgmentalism, and creativity. I aim to create a space for my clients where they will feel welcomed, safe, and able to bring their whole identity into the session, which in turn will cultivate the conditions required for growth, personal development, and healing.
My approach is trauma-informed, neuro-affirming, and viewed from an intersectional feminist perspective. I work with a culturally diverse client base, the LGBTQ+ community, and continuously question my privilege in the world.
I am dedicated to continuously educating myself, and I strive to build an anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive way of being.
My self-care is a priority. I work with my therapist, engage in peer support, and attend monthly clinical supervision in line with Íø±¬ÃÅ guidelines.
Out of working hours, I have a few special interests; mid-century art & design, architecture, music, and yoga. I am a very willing companion to my feline friend who (full disclosure) may appear during our sessions together. I recognise the importance of welcome your pets into our sessions.
I am based in Edinburgh and Dunfermline.
I am now taking on face-to-face clients in Dunfermline.
