About me and my therapy practice
I work from a psychodynamic perspective, focusing on helping clients understand how unconscious patterns from early experiences influence current difficulties. My approach involves exploring the connection between past and present, making the unconscious conscious so that meaningful change becomes possible.
I specialise in working with anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem, as well as supporting individuals who have attended boarding school and are experiencing attachment difficulties, identity issues, or relationship challenges. I also work with clients experiencing grief and bereavement.
My practice is informed by my training in psychodynamic practice from the University of Oxford and several years of experience working with clients both in private practice and within the NHS. I believe in creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their inner world and develop greater self-awareness.
I offer both short-term focused work and longer-term open-ended therapy, tailoring my approach to each individual’s needs and circumstances.
Practice description
I work with adults facing a range of emotional and psychological difficulties. My consulting room provides a confidential, safe environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment.
Sessions are typically 50 minutes long and take place weekly at the same time each week, providing consistency and structure that supports the therapeutic process. I believe this regularity helps build the trust and safety necessary for deeper exploration.
My approach is collaborative - whilst I bring my professional expertise and training, you are the expert on your own experience. Together, we’ll work to understand patterns that may be keeping you stuck and explore new ways of being in the world.
I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, family difficulties, relationship issues, and grief. I have particular experience supporting former boarding school students who may be dealing with complex feelings around attachment, identity, and relationships.
I offer both in-person and online sessions, and I’m committed to making therapy accessible and responsive to your individual needs.
My first session
The initial session is an opportunity for us both to explore whether we might work well together. This is as much about you getting a feel for me and my approach as it is about me understanding what brings you to therapy.
During our first meeting, I’ll invite you to share what’s prompted you to seek therapy at this time and what you’re hoping to gain from our work together. We’ll also discuss your background, including family relationships and any previous therapy experiences.
I’ll explain my approach and how I typically work, and you’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions about the therapeutic process, practical arrangements, or anything else that feels important to you.
There’s no pressure to commit beyond this initial session - it’s important that you feel comfortable with both me and my way of working. If we both feel it’s a good fit, we’ll discuss how to move forward, including session frequency and any particular goals you have for therapy.
The first session is charged at the same rate as subsequent sessions, and we can arrange this initial meeting at a time that works for both of us.
