About me and my therapy practice
Life can shape how we see ourselves and if our needs are met with criticism, emotional absence or unpredictability we can struggle to accept ourselves. I offer a safe relational space for adults and teenagers to help you slowly begin to trust, open up and experience yourself as valued and accepted just as you are, and to become visible again. I am an accredited psychotherapist and I am trained in a range of psychological therapies.
Throughout my career I have worked in private practice, the charity sector and I also work with adolescents within schools . I can help you gain insight into unexamined beliefs that can cause low self esteem which can be a lifelong burden; helping you to learn to understand the emotional patterns that shape how you see yourself and work towards a new healing relationship beginning to rewrite your inner story. I am a trauma informed therapist and can help you achieve greater autonomy, creating a space to enable you to make more active and conscious choices in your life, with the ultimate goal of reducing any anxiety-driven behaviours.
It is a privilege for me to walk alongside my clients on their respective journeys as I have immense respect for people who seek help to improve their lives.
I realise that this can be a big step. If you have any questions about how therapy might work for you, please don't hesitate to contact me to discuss how i can help.
Practice description
I am a fully qualified and experienced Trauma Informed Cognitive Behaviour psychotherapist. .
I understand that finding the right kind of mental health support can feel difficult. I am to create a a sense of safety, understanding and trust within the therapeutic relationship as this plays a significant role in the success of the therapeutic journey. When a strong collobrative is formed it can be the foundation for lasting positive change happens which can empower you on your journey to well-being.
You are not just another client to me; you are a unique individual with a story that deserves to be heard and understood.
What would it be like to give yourself permission to be human and reduce emotional vulnerability and reactivity. If you’re feeling weighed down by pressure, whether it’s from others or from within, sometimes talking to someone can help to increase positive emotions and harness a more positive long-term outlook.
I have many years of experience of working with a wide variety of difficulties, ranging from personal, interpersonal, physical health and mood related difficulties and trauma. For many people, unhelpful coping strategies have evolved from the need for survival and using a Trauma Informed/Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) approach it can help you understand the unhelpful thinking and discover a newfound freedom, confidence and belief in yourself. Through safe and caring therapeutic work we can work together to get techniques to help you build your self-confidence, change current negative thought patterns as you navigate the impact of trauma or difficult early experiences.
I have a particular interest in working with adults and young people whose lives have been impacted by trauma and aim to work alongside you to help you understand your true self and value. My specialties include depression, various forms of anxiety and trauma. These are just some of the areas in which I work, or have worked with, but is not an exhaustive list.
