About me and my therapy practice
Imagine a safe, confidential space where your voice will be heard and valued, where you will be seen and acknowledged without judgement.
I’m Nic a fully accredited integrative counsellor, my work is largely informed by Humanistic principles, this means I hold great value in establishing a strong therapeutic alliance as a foundation for our work. I aim to build a trusting relationship where you feel able to bring your whole self and feel fully accepted as you are. I provide a non-judgemental space that gives you an opportunity for exploration. There is never an expectation for you to talk about anything unless you feel ready, keeping you in control of what you want to work through.
As a warm and friendly practitioner, I work with care and compassion, checking and responding to your feelings throughout our sessions together. I offer a neutral perspective and look to find ways of working together that are helpful for you, allowing you to process your feelings at your own pace in ways that suit you best. I will work to keep a balance between holding and challenging you, to help you discover ways forward that are rooted in who you really are and who you want to be.
As we go along in life, we can develop ways of coping. However, sometimes challenges can leave us overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected. Whether you are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, struggling to cope with your emotions or facing difficult decisions in your life right now, I am here to support and help you. I believe emotional distress is our way of trying to express something that needs to be heard and understood and we can work through this together.
Practice description
Being an integrative practitioner means I’m able to blend different elements from counselling and psychotherapy theory to provide a tailored experience to each client. In our work together I aim to provide understanding to increase self-awareness, help you develop the capacity to regulate emotions, and provide you with practical tools to serve you in the future and allow you to live the life you want to live.
I have experience working with a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse relationship issues and many other concerns that life presents. I currently run a busy private practice across educational, health and employee assistance sectors providing a wide range of therapeutic interventions to adults and young people 11+.
My first session
A strong safe connection is an important part of therapy. I know how daunting it can be finding the right person to work with, it’s important that you feel at ease and safe to work with me. It’s for this reason I offer a free 20-minute introductory phone call to see if we are a good match to work together and if I’m able to help you.
If you decide after this to book in for your first session, this will be an opportunity for you to meet me, determine what your goals are and spend time exploring what you would like to gain from counselling. Each session is 50 minutes long via zoom. There is no obligation to continue after your initial session.
