About me and my therapy practice

An experienced registered clinical Psychotherapist and Counsellor working with teenagers and adults. I work online nationally using video. I create a calm, safe and confidential environment where you can think aloud without being judged, and we can identify and explore issues that may be affecting you.

Life can be challenging. Do you long to make sense of your experiences and find deeper meaning?

Therapy often involves navigating a journey of meaning-making. I work with clients who seek therapy for diverse reasons, such as grappling with life transitions, processing past traumas, understanding current struggles, or simply seeking deeper self-awareness. As a culturally responsive therapist, I warmly welcome clients who wish to explore their cultural identity, racial experiences, or challenges around diversity, inclusion, and belonging. I provide a safe, respectful, and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment.

The therapeutic process provides a structured space for this exploration. I work collaboratively with clients to identify patterns in their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, helping you connect these patterns to your life experiences. This process can help you illuminate how past events shape present realities.

Through our work together, I will utilise tools to challenge unhelpful narratives, develop healthier coping mechanisms, and cultivate resilience. It's about empowering individuals to re-author their stories, not by erasing the past, but by changing their relationship to it.

Ultimately, therapy can empower you to construct a more coherent and meaningful understanding of yourself and your place in the world, leading to greater emotional well-being, more fulfilling relationships, and a stronger sense of purpose.

Practice description

Practice description

Through my work in both private and public health care, I have gained extensive experience which allows me to draw upon a combination of research, theory, and practice to enable me to support you in making changes to improve the quality of your life.

In my own earlier search for answers, I spent a considerable time immersed in southeast Asia researching the benefits of mindfulness and meditation in relation to improved health and wellbeing. My learnings from that time coupled with my subsequent psychotherapy and counselling education and research allow me to draw on various modern and ancient approaches in my practice.

My first session

Our first session will be 1 hour and is at no cost. This gives you the opportunity to tell me about your reasons for coming to therapy, concerns you may have, or changes you would like to make along with goals to work towards. I am likely to ask questions to guide you through this. You can also see how you feel talking with me and ask me questions about how I work.

If you feel comfortable and would like to continue working together all future sessions are 50 minutes.

We will work at a pace that suits you, therefore the number of sessions is dependent on your requirements. With focus on the therapeutic relationship we form, I aim to support you in identifying, understanding, and changing aspects of your life that may be having a negative impact on your wellbeing.
