About me and my therapy practice
My name is Rory, and I have over 20 years of experience in the field of counselling and psychotherapy.
I am committed to offering counselling and psychotherapy within a safe, confidential, and professional environment. Over the years, I have worked with individuals and couples across a range of issues, and I am also a qualified clinical supervisor, supporting both trainee and experienced therapists.
As an Integrative Psychotherapist, I draw upon a range of therapeutic approaches, each grounded in a deep respect for the individual and the healing potential of relationships—past, present, and future. My work is informed by core principles of empathy, authenticity, and the belief in each person's capacity for growth and change.
Practice description
Integrative therapy allows me to tailor my approach to meet your unique needs. Rather than adhering to a single therapeutic model, I integrate key elements from the major schools of psychotherapy to explore how early and ongoing relational patterns shape the way we see ourselves and relate to others.
I have specialist experience in:
• Couples counselling
• Psycho-sexual issues
• Bereavement, grief, and loss
• Depression, Anxiety, and OCD
As a relational therapist, I engage actively in the therapeutic process. I don’t believe in simply nodding from the sidelines. Instead, I bring myself into the therapeutic relationship with warmth and honesty, offering thoughtful feedback where appropriate, while always keeping your pace and readiness in mind.
Above all, I aim to work alongside you—supporting you to tell your story in a way that feels safe, accessible, and meaningful.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Íø±¬ÃÅ) and adhere to their ethical framework. I have masters degrees in divinity, leadership, psychotherapy, and law and a phd in humanities. I have additional qualifications in pastoral care and clinical leadership.
Supervision
In addition to my client work, I am a trained clinical supervisor and offer supervision to both qualified and trainee counsellors and psychotherapists, as well as to organisations. My approach to supervision is collaborative, encouraging reflective practice and professional growth.
My first session
Initial Consultation
I offer a 15–20 minute online consultation via phone or a video call. This is an informal opportunity for us to meet and explore how we might work together. You’re welcome to ask any questions, share any concerns, or simply get a feel for whether I might be the right therapist for you.
There’s no obligation to continue after this call—it's just a space for connection and clarity.
Ongoing Sessions
If you decide to move forward, we will arrange a regular weekly 50-minute session, held online via video or phone. This consistent time and space provide the foundation for our therapeutic work together.
