About me and my therapy practice
I am currently providing one-to-one counselling via secure online platforms such as Zoom and Teams, or via the telephone. In very specific circumstances I also occasionally offer home visits but there are additional fees involved.
I am a fully qualified, experienced Trauma Informed Psychotherapeutic Counsellor offering a safe, judgement free, supportive and empathic space for you to explore your present and past experiences.
I am an Integrative Therapist, which means I draw on and incorporate various approaches to therapy to provide you with a more personalised counselling service that suits you, your current situation and your goals. I can offer you a safe space where you will feel respected, heard and supported.
Issues I work with include, but are not limited to, anxiety and depression, sexual abuse, sexual assault, domestic violence, childhood neglect and abuse, trauma and complex trauma. When working with trauma, assault and abuse, I take a Trauma Informed Approach. This is very important in preventing re-traumatisation of clients, and it is effective in helping clients to understand the nature of trauma, enabling them to better manage the presentations of trauma and to take back control of their lives. Working with trauma is an area I feel very passionate about and this makes up a large percentage of my work.
I also have experience working with specific learning difficulties, including Dyslexia, ADHD and Autism.
Although there is still some stigma attached to taking up therapy and discussing mental health, taking the time to explore and talk about our emotional needs and mental health can be extremely rewarding and beneficial. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch – I am happy to discuss whatever is on your mind.
Practice description
Currently all sessions are held online, via Zoom or Teams; or via the telephone.
Sessions last for 50 minutes and usually take place on a weekly basis.
I am happy to work short or long term with my clients, and can also offer one-off sessions.
Payments should be made in advance of the session via BACS transfer.
My first session
Our first session usually involves a discussion around what you are looking to get from the therapy and how we might work together.
Sometimes this will also involve contracting and an "assessment" which really just involves talking about your past and present.
